Orlando's Rep. Adams fears Obama power grab

Orlando Sentinel

WASHINGTON — A White House order updating federal emergency powers has raised alarm among some conservative commentators, and U.S. Rep. Sandy Adams, that President Barack Obama is attempting to grab unconstitutional powers.
A columnist with The Washington Times declared the mid-March order — an update of a 60-year-old document outlining the president's authority in a national emergency — "stunning in its audacity and a flagrant violation of the Constitution." The conservative Drudge Report website linked to it with the headline, "Martial Law?"
And Adams, R-Orlando, said it "leaves the door open for the president to give himself control over American resources during both times of peace, and national crisis."
So Adams filed a nonbinding resolution specifying what Obama cannot do with the order — including institute a draft, confiscate personal property and "force civilians to engage in labor against their will or without compensation."

Strip-Search Case Reflects Death of American Privacy

Bloomberg
April 8, 2012

To be the swing voter, you have to be willing to swing. In the last three weeks, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy has shown how it’s done.
First he wrote the majority opinion in a landmark 5-4 case establishing a constitutional right to an adequate lawyer in plea-bargaining negotiations. Liberals were enthused. Yet in his tough questioning during the Obamacare arguments, he shook up the conventional wisdom that mandatory coverage would be upheld comfortably. Liberals were not enthused. Then, as a coda, he wrote the majority opinion in a 5-4 case allowing jails to strip-search anyone being put into the general prison population -- even without suspicion, and even after the most trivial misdemeanor arrest. The same liberals who loved him in March are prepared to loathe him in April.
What principle, if any, explains Kennedy’s vote in the strip-search case? Kennedy-watchers know that he is deeply sympathetic to arguments based on human dignity. His perception of dignity led him to vote to preserve the core of Roe v. Wade in 1992, and to write the two opinions that more or less created constitutional rights for gay people.
The plaintiff in the strip-search case was arrested after a routine traffic stop and jailed for a minor outstanding warrant that may well have been a mistake. Before entering the jail, he was forced to strip, lift his genitals, squat and cough. If that isn’t an assault on human dignity, you might think, what is?

Another Downgrade

IJ Review

The United States credit rating was downgraded again yesterday, from AA+ to AA. Egan-Jones, considered the 4th largest credit rating agency, cited growing concern over the public debt.
The company statement read, “Without some structural changes soon, restoring credit quality will become increasingly difficult.” The debt has reached 100% of Gross Domestic Product and the debt is up 24% from 2008 to 2010.
Chances of a U.S. default according to Egan-Jones? 1.2%.

Home Depot Co-Founder: A Second Obama Term Would Bring Despair to America

The Gateway Pundit
April 9, 2012

From Hope to Despair
Bernie Marcus was born to Jewish-Russian immigrant parents in Newark, New Jersey. He grew up in a tenement and graduated from South Side High School in 1947. Marcus wanted to become a doctor but couldn’t afford the tuition, so he worked for his father as a cabinet maker through Rutgers University to earn a pharmacy degree. In 1979 Bernie and Arthur Blank launched the highly successful Home Depot home-improvement retailer. The rest is history.
On Friday night Bernie Marcus told Sean Hannity that an Obama second term would bring “despair” to America.

U.N. Report: Happiness Is...World Socialism

American Thinker
April 9, 2012

According to the United Nations' new "World Happiness Report," European socialism is the road to well-being, and it ought to be imposed on all mankind.  The 150-page report uses that special brand of question-begging statistical analysis that leftists substitute for science to support its conclusion that -- surprise! -- the major obstacles to increased "Gross National Happiness" are social and environmental injustice.  And of course, where there are obstacles, there must be a government steamroller to remove them.
The lead editor of the report is Jeffrey Sachs, director of Columbia University's "Earth Institute."  Professor Sachs is a leading "sustainable development" advocate, a leading "anti-poverty" advocate, and a member of the Spanish Socialist Party's think-tank, Fundación IDEAS.  We might conclude our assessment of the report's value, integrity, and scientific objectivity right there.
However, such dismissive revulsion on the part of conservatives is precisely the psychological mechanism that the left counts on.  By refusing to tackle their societal manipulation head-on, we grant the socialists unchallenged access to the public square, particularly in the sphere of cultural presuppositions.  Once these broad themes, disseminated as scientific knowledge through the mainstream and academic media, become accepted truisms, freedom's defenders are reduced to pleading helplessly with their neighbors to wake up and recognize what has happened to them.
The most extraordinary fact about this document, given its title, its conclusions, and the extreme assault on liberty that its authors are recommending, is that it never defines happiness.  The statistics used to assess the happiness of various nations are derived from survey respondents' subjective evaluations of their level of "happiness," or "life-satisfaction," without reference to any explicit standard or stipulated definition of the study's key term.
Interestingly, the authors repeatedly cite Aristotle's name, and refer approvingly to his notion of happiness as "eudaimonia," which the report falsely translates as "excellence" (p. 20).  Excellence of what?  Conveniently, the authors never say.  And this is no mere colossal oversight.  The omission is necessary, for to define happiness in any concrete manner would either force them to reveal the moral and political bias of their study, or force them to concede that the entire basis of the study -- subjective self-evaluations without any theoretical context -- is bogus.  (The careful avoidance of any definition of happiness that might be objectively observable is consistent with the U.N.'s replacement of the scientifically measurable "global warming" with the nebulous "climate change," which can literally be used to account for anything.)
Their only discernible reason for citing Aristotle's eudaimonism is to contrast the alleged ideas of "the sages" (the Buddha is also cited repeatedly) with modern hedonistic "materialism," which they equate with the view that wealth alone is the source of happiness.  Has anyone ever really believed that money alone brings happiness?  This popular caricature of the American ethic forms the premise of the report's straw-man argument against individual liberty, as it allows the authors to propose that, beyond moderate levels of material wealth and achievement, no further economic gains will enhance one's happiness.  From this they derive their utilitarian conclusion that limitations on wealth-acquisition in the name of greater equality are conducive to overall happiness (p. 95-96).
Therefore, if the goal of good government is to promote societal happiness, maintaining a moderate level of material wealth for everyone is superior to allowing people to pursue "inequality" of outcomes.  That equality of outcomes is the proper goal, and that governments have the moral authority to act on such a principle, is never questioned.  In other words, the study begins with the presupposition that individual outcomes are irrelevant independently of the collective.

How Obama's 'Recovery Act' paid for transferring military technology to Russia

American Thinker
April 9, 2012

When the true history of Barack Obama's "Recovery Act" comes to light there will be many tales of wasted taxpayer dollars, faulty workmanship, bailouts to union allies, and scams and schemes that benefit Democrats and their donors. We already have some insight from "green schemes"  going belly up and taking taxpayers down the drain with them. Now we have a new revelation: Obama's Department of Energy used stimulus funding to fund an electric battery company-Ener1- that actually did create some cutting-edge technology before declaring bankruptcy.
But now, a Russian tycoon tied to the dictatorship has taken control of this company and its technology -- some of which has military potential.  Vice-President Joe Biden has praised federal funding for Ener1 and said this the question was "which nation is going to seize the future." The answer seems to be Russia -- thanks to the Obama administration incompetency.
Boris Zingarevich was an investor in Ener1 when Obama's team gave it over $100 million dollars and when the company went bankrupt he seized control through the bankruptcy process. Now the technology-develop with taxpayer dollars-is freely available to Vladimir Putin and company thanks to Barack Obama and company.
Julie Wernau reports for the Chicago Tribune:
The company tapped the country's top scientists at Argonne National Lab in Illinois, and U.S. taxpayers pledged up to $118 million in federal stimulus funds and $80 million in state and local incentives to help Ener1 produce cutting-edge battery technology for electric cars and the U.S. military.
A little more than a year after Biden's visit to Ener1's Indiana manufacturing plant, the company's technology is owned outright by Boris Zingarevich, a Russian businessman with ties to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, a fact that concerns some technology experts in the U.S.

Zingarevich acquired Ener1 out of bankruptcy March 30 with an agreement to infuse $81 million in financing, giving him a sophisticated line of batteries that can power electric cars, store electricity for power grids and supply portable power for soldiers.
In the case of Ener1, neither the Department of Energy nor the Navy checked on foreign ownership before awarding the company grants and research and development contracts. The Army, which also awarded contracts, said individual employees underwent routine background checks as contractors, but scrutinizing the company's ownership structure was not part of its purview.
Republican Congressman Cliff Stearns in investigating the matter. He notes "Instead of producing thousands of 'clean energy' jobs, the administration's loan guarantee and grant programs are yielding bankruptcies and the squandering of taxpayer dollars. Only two days after President Obama highlighted federal investments in high-tech batteries in his State of the Union address earlier this year, Ener1 joined Solyndra, Beacon Power, Evergreen Solar, SpectraWatt and AES in bankruptcy - all recipients of taxpayer dollars."
What makes the Ener1 case even worse is now our Russian adversaries will be the beneficiaries of our problems.

Obama Birth Certificate Fraud Unraveling By The Minute In 2012

Editor's Note: Since this interview, the court ruled that Obama will be on the ballot in Georgia in the coming election. :

On February 7, Georgia's Secretary of State Brian Kemp adopted Judge Malihi's final decision on the ballot challenges -- Obama's name will appear on the Georgia 2012 ballot.
The deception continues....

Feb 1, 2012
I have stayed away from the birth certificate issue, because I have worried about it being part of a dis-info campaign to keep focus off seemingly more important criminal matters. No longer. I cannot in good conscience ignore the obvious unfolding truth ongoing in a Georgia courtroom as this powerful "Manning Report" re-airs on my channel. The proof of treasonous fraud is so compelling that I cannot ignore this issue any longer.

The much-maligned "Birthers", so-called by the mainstream media, have been villified and margainalized for 4 years, and yet - to their credit - they have persevered through a campaign to destroy the reputation of anyone who dared question Obama's Constitutional authority to be President of the "United States" (sic) based upon his citizenship (the lack there of).

A tipping point has been reached, which leaves no doubt about the veracity of Obama's recently released "long form" birth certificate - that is, it has no veracity. Obama's Hawaiian "long form" birth certificate is a complete fabrication and of this there can be no shred of doubt. And I do now believe that this FACT could well set in motion a series of events that leads to not only Obama's Impeachment, but to the re-establishment of freedom in America, the end of illegal wars, the end of illegal and unconstitutional usurpations by the corporate government of the United States and its subsidiaries.

Can the oft-villified "birthers" become history's unexpected heroes? Stay tuned.
