Israel’s butterfly drone to map previously unexplored enclosed spaces

Israel might be a mecca of start-ups but it is also very well known for its military technology. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), known worldwide for their commercial aerospace technology has given a demo of butterfly-shaped drone that will not even let the enemies know what they are dealing with. The drone, which is more of the size of a moth is expected to play a strategic role in determining where the enemy is hiding. Weighing at a mere 20 grams, the four-winged butterfly can flap its wings up to 14 times per second. Surprisingly, what amounts to 15 grams of its weight is a camera and a memory card.

Theresa May: we'll stop migrants if euro collapses

The Government is drawing up plans for emergency immigration controls to curb an influx of Greeks and other European Union residents if the euro collapses, the Home Secretary discloses today.

May 25, 2012

In an interview in The Daily Telegraph, Theresa May says “work is ongoing” to restrict European immigration in the event of a financial collapse.
People from throughout the EU, with the exception of new member countries such as Romania and Bulgaria, are able to work anywhere in the single market.
However, there are growing concerns that if Greece was forced to leave the euro, it would effectively go bankrupt and millions could lose their jobs and consider looking for work abroad.
The crisis could spread quickly to other vulnerable countries such as Spain, Ireland and Portugal, although Britain is regarded as a safe haven because it is outside the single currency.
Details of the contingency plan emerged as the euro crisis deepened further yesterday.

Obama, the born-again Catholic

The Daily Caller

Amid polls showing that his efforts to regulate religious institutions have hurt his image among Catholics, President Barack Obama has begun touting his early ties to the church.
“My first job as a community organizer was with Catholic churches who taught me the power of kindness and commitment to others in neighborhoods,” he declared at a Hollywood fundraiser May 23.
“When I was a young community organizer, I was working with Catholic churches and they taught me that no government program can make as much of a difference as kindness and commitment on the part of neighbors and friends,” he said at a Colorado fundraiser earlier that day.
This new emphasis on his ties to the Catholic Church is a change from Obama’s previous speeches and fundraisers, where he did not mention that, early in his career, he was funded and supported by liberal Catholic officials in Chicago.
His Chicago supporters included a radical Catholic priest, Father Michael Pfleger, who has since been admonished by senior church officials for political advocacy.
Obama’s emphasis on his Catholic ties come as polls show a sharp drop in his support among swing-voting Catholics in battleground states after his February imposition of regulations on churches.
An April poll from Pew reported that Obama’s approval among non-Hispanic Catholics dropped from 45 percent in March to 37 percent in April, while support for Romney rose from 51 percent to 57 percent. That shift could swing the decision in critical swing-states, including Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Many people, including security forces, have been killed in the turmoil.
While the West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of the killings, Damascus blames ”outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
Press TV has talked with author and historian Webster Griffin Tarpley to further discuss the issue.

California tops states in teen unemployment

The Union
May 25, 2012

State Teen Unemployment Ranking
1) California 36.2%
2) South Carolina 31.2%
3) Rhode Island 29.8%
4) Washington 29.0%
5) Arizona 29.0%
6) Nevada 28.8%
7) Idaho 28.4%
8) North Carolina 28.2%
9) Missouri 27.7%
10) Louisiana 27.6%
** District of Columbia 51.7%
*Note: Rankings based on unrounded figures.
As summer break approaches and school seasons conclude, teens in California will have a more difficult time finding a job than their demographic counterparts in every other state, according to Census Bureau data released by the Employment Policies Institute.

With 36.2 percent of its teens unable to find employment, California leads all other states in teen unemployment — only the District of Columbia, with its 51.7 percent teen unemployment rate, surpasses the Golden State.

Overall, teen unemployment rose in 17 states and Washington, D.C., between April 2011 and April 2012, and fell in 32 states.

Nationally, the teen unemployment rate stands at 24.9 percent, and has averaged above 20 percent for over 40 months. The number of employed teens fell by 14,000 from March to April 2012.

“Although the jobs outlook has improved slightly for summer 2012, teens searching for summer employment are still faced with more competition and less opportunity than past generations,” said Michael Saltsman, research fellow at the EPI, in a statement.

When the analysis is broadened to include discouraged teens that have stopped actively looking for work but would still like a job, nearly every state experiences a jump in their teen unemployment rates, according to EPI analysis.

Economists have shown that the value of a summer job goes beyond a paycheck. Research published in the Journal of Labor Economics found that high schoolers who worked part-time had a greater likelihood of higher wages and better benefits in future employment, as compared to their classmates that didn't have a job.

“Missing out on summer jobs deprives teens of the opportunity to learn responsibility and important skills not taught in the classroom,” Saltsman said.

TSA Hired Reported Serial Sex Abuse Priest Pedophile As Screener

Man was removed from ministry after three cases of reported sexual abuse against young girls

May 25, 2012

A former Catholic priest who was defrocked after it was discovered he had sexually abused young girls is now working as a security screener for the TSA it has been revealed.
The CBS 3 I-Team in Philadelphia reports that Thomas Harkins, a priest in South Jersey until 2002, is now working at a security terminal at Philadelphia International Airport.
Although his main duty is to screen baggage, part of Harkins’ job with the TSA also involves screening passengers passing through body scanners and conducting pat-downs where necessary.
“The Diocese of Camden removed him from ministry because it found he sexually abused two young girls. Now, in a new lawsuit, a third woman is claiming she also is one of Harkins’ victims.” the CBS affiliate reports.
Details of the new lawsuit filed in a federal court against Harkins were revealed by the CBS team and they do not make for pretty reading. It says that he sexually abused an 11-year-old girl up to 15 times in the early 1980s when he was a priest at Saint Anthony of Padua parish in Hammonton, NJ.
The CBS team tracked Harkins down and confronted him over the allegations. He refused to answer questions and sought refuge in a restricted TSA security area.
“They should know who they’re hiring,” Karen Polesir, a Philadelphia spokeswoman with the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) told CBS.
“As the public, we are screened to our underwear getting on a plane, and yet they hire a man like that.” she added.
Watch the CBS report:

The TSA claims that it puts all its employees through background checks, and that Harkins was not flagged because criminal charges were never brought against him.
However, as we have repeatedly noted, this is not an isolated case. In fact, the TSA has consistently hired violent criminals and even pedophiles, indicating that the agency does not follow through on background checks.
Last month, a television station in Atlanta reported that the TSA is so swamped with background checks it is now hiring just about anybody to grope and irradiate the public.
“In a move that could affect security at airports around the nation, the Transportation Security Administration confirmed Wednesday it had such a backlog of background security checks, airport employers were allowed to hire any employee needed,” WSBTV reported. “TSA officials said the background checks are delayed, but they are processing them as fast as they can.”

Turn Out The Lights – The Largest U.S. Cities Are Becoming Cesspools Of Filth & Decay

The Economic Collapse
Friday, May 25, 2012
Once upon a time, the largest U.S. cities were the envy of the entire world.  Sadly, that is no longer the case.  Sure, there are areas of New York City, Boston, Washington and Los Angeles that are still absolutely beautiful but for the most part our major cities are rapidly rotting and decaying.

Cities such as Detroit, Cleveland, Baltimore, Memphis, New Orleans, St. Louis and Oakland were all once places where middle class American workers thrived and raised their families.  Today, all of those cities are rapidly being transformed into cesspools of filth, decay and wretchedness.  Millions of good jobs have left our major cities in recent decades and poverty has absolutely exploded.    Basically, you can turn out the lights because the party is over.  In fact, some major U.S. cities are literally turning out the lights.  In Detroit, about 40 percent of the streetlights are already broken and the city cannot afford to repair them.  So Mayor Bing has come up with a plan to cut the number of operating streetlights almost in half and leave vast sections of the city totally in the dark at night.  I wonder what that will do to the crime rate in the city.  But don’t look down on Detroit too much, because what is happening in Detroit will be happening where you live soon enough.
recent Bloomberg article described Mayor Bing’s plan to eliminate nearly half of Detroit’s streetlights….
Detroit, whose 139 square miles contain 60 percent fewer residents than in 1950, will try to nudge them into a smaller living space by eliminating almost half its streetlights.
As it is, 40 percent of the 88,000 streetlights are broken and the city, whose finances are to be overseen by an appointed board, can’t afford to fix them. Mayor Dave Bing’s plan would create an authority to borrow $160 million to upgrade and reduce the number of streetlights to 46,000. Maintenance would be contracted out, saving the city $10 million a year.
What this means is that there are going to be a lot of neighborhoods that will have the lights turned off permanently.
So which neighborhoods will those be?
According to one top Detroit official, “distressed areas” are going to be on the low end of the totem pole….
“You have to identify those neighborhoods where you want to concentrate your population,” said Chris Brown, Detroit’s chief operating officer. “We’re not going to light distressed areas like we light other areas.”
City officials know that they cannot force people to move from “distressed areas”, so they are going to encourage them to leave by cutting off services.
But turning off the lights is not the only way that Detroit is trying to save money.
Recently, officials in Detroit announced that all police stations in the city will be closed to the public for 16 hours a day.
It is so sad to see what is happening to what was once such a great city.
Back in the old days, Detroit had a teeming middle class population.
Today, 53.6% of all children in the city of Detroit are living in poverty.
Back in the old days, Detroit was a shining example of what America was doing right.
Today, 47 percent of all people living in the city of Detroit are functionally illiterate.
Back in the old days, middle class neighborhoods sprouted like mushrooms all over Detroit.
Today, the median price of a home in Detroit is just $6000.
Needless to say, crime is exploding in Detroit and many families live in constant fear.
Many have taken justice into their own hands.  Justifiable homicide in Detroit rose by a staggering 79 percent during 2011.
But Detroit is only one example of a national trend.

ZIMMERMAN COMPLAINED ABOUT SANFORD POLICE IN DEFENSE OF HOMELESS BLACK MAN

Breitbart
May 24, 2012

George Zimmerman

We're learning today that just last year, at a public forum, George Zimmerman publicly testified against the Sanford police department in defense of a homeless black man. In other words, what we have here is more proof that the media narrative surrounding the shooting of Trayvon Martin might just end up being the most disgraced and failed media narrative since Duke-LaCrosse and the Tuscon murders.
George Zimmerman accused the Sanford police department of corruption more than a year before he shot Trayvon Martin, saying at a public forum the agency covered up the beating of a black homeless man by the son of a white officer.
"I would just like to state that the law is written in black and white," Zimmerman said during a 90-second statement to city commissioners at a community forum. "It should not and cannot be enforced in the gray for those who are in the thin blue line."
The forum took place on Jan. 8, 2011, days after a video of the beating went viral on the Internet and then-Sanford Police Chief Brian Tooley was forced to retire. Tooley's department faced criticism for dragging its feet in arresting Justin Collison, the son of a police lieutenant.
The media narrative fail here is a triple shot. If Zimmerman is supposedly some kind of yee-haw law and order type eager to play racist cop, why in the world would he publicly accuse the Sanford police of corruption with a special emphasis on the Chief -- all in defense of a homeless black man beaten by the white son of a white Sanford police officer. It's not like someone threw a microphone in Zimmerman's  face either. He proactively went to, attended, and spoke out at this meeting:
"I'd like to know what action the commission is taking in order to repeal Mr. Tooley's pension," Zimmerman said to the commission. "I'm not asking you to repeal his pension; I believe he's already forfeited his pension by his illegal cover-up in corruption in what happened in his department."

The Globalization of U.S. Special Operations Forces

David Isenberg
IPS
May 24, 2012
It was recently reported that U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) commander Adm. Bill McRaven and Deputy Director of Operations Brig. Gen. Sean Mulholland want to establish a worldwide network linking special operations forces (SOF) of allied and partner nations to combat terrorism.
If created, the network would comprise regional security coordination centres, organised and structured similarly to NATO SOF headquarters in Mons, Belgium.
According to Mulholland, these centres would not be command-and- control nodes but rather centres for education, networking and coordination to gain regional solutions for regional problems.
Mulholland estimated it would cost less than 30 million dollars a year to operate and maintain each regional node, although that is a figure that some observers consider laughably small.
SOCOM plans to stand up the first one in Miami-based U.S. Southern Command later in 2013, with Mulholland tapped to command integrated SOF in Central and South America.
This plan may seem ultra-ambitious but given the demand on and pace of U.S. SOF activities in recent years it hardly comes as a surprise. The forces will be conducting missions in 120 countries by year’s end, up from about 75 currently. And while they account for only three percent of the military as a whole, they make up more than seven percent of the forces assigned to Iraq and Afghanistan.
This activity is increasing as the U.S. Special Operations Command’s budget is set to remain flat. The command’s fiscal 2013 budget request is 10.4 billion dollars – essentially the same as its current budget. But the budget for the Special Operations Command has more than quadrupled since 2001, as has the number of deployments.

Barack O'Romney

Foreign Policy
May 23, 2012

Ignore what the candidates say they'll do differently on foreign policy. They're basically the same man.

BY AARON DAVID MILLER | MAY 23, 2012

If Barack Obama is reelected, he ought to consider making Mitt Romney his new secretary of state. I propose this far-fetched howler not because I'm trying to get into my own Dumb Idea Hall of Fame, or because white-male secretaries of state seem to be going the way of the dodo at Foggy Bottom (we haven't had one since Warren Christopher departed in 1997), or because I believe deeply in bipartisanship. (Although I do; it's been a long time since we've had a secretary of state who was from the opposing party, and it would be great idea.)

I raise the idea to drive home a broader point. Despite his campaign rhetoric, Romney would be quite comfortable carrying out President Obama's foreign policy because it accords so closely with his own.
And that brings up an extraordinary fact. What has emerged in the second decade after 9/11 is a remarkable consensus among Democrats and Republicans on a core approach to the nation's foreign policy. It's certainly not a perfect alignment. But rarely since the end of the Cold War has there been this level of consensus. Indeed, while Americans may be divided, polarized and dysfunctional about issues closer to home, we are really quite united in how we see the world and what we should do about it.
Ever wondered why foreign policy hasn't figured all that prominently in the 2012 election campaign? Sure, the country is focused on the economy and domestic priorities. And yes, Obama has so far avoided the kind of foreign-policy disasters that would give the Republicans easy free shots. But there's more to it than that: Romney has had a hard time identifying Obama's foreign-policy vulnerabilities because there's just not that much difference between the two.
A post 9/11 consensus is emerging that has bridged the ideological divide of the Bush 43 years. And it's going to be pretty durable.
Paradoxically, both George W. Bush's successes and failures helped to create this new consensus. His tough and largely successful approach to counterterrorism -- specifically, keeping the homeland safe and keeping al Qaeda and its affiliates at bay through use of special forces, drone attacks, aggressive use of intelligence, and more effective cooperation among agencies now forms a virtually unassailable bipartisan consensus. As shown through his stepped-up drone campaign, Barack Obama has become George W. Bush on steroids.

Vietnam jails 3 for anti-government leaflets

Fox News
May 23, 2012

An official says a court in central Vietnam has sentenced three political activists to up to three and a half years in prison for distributing anti-government leaflets.

Presiding Judge Vi Van Chat said that the three were convicted of "spreading propaganda against the state" at Thursday's half-day trial in Nghe An province.

He says they were also ordered to serve up to 18 months under house arrest, adding that the fourth defendant was given a two-year suspended sentence.

Chat declined to give details.
Phil Robertson, deputy Asia director of Human Rights Watch, says in a statement that the four are Catholic activists who were arrested after passing out pro-democracy materials. He called for their immediate release.

Sanford judge rules in favor of motorist who flashed his headlights

Orlando Sentinel

A judge in Sanford ruled Tuesday that a Lake Mary man was lawfully exercising his First Amendment rights when he flashed his headlights to warn neighbors that a deputy had set up a speed trap nearby.

That decision is another victory for Ryan Kintner, 25, who sued theSeminole County Sheriff's Officelast year, accusing it of misconstruing a state law and violating his civil rights, principally his right to free speech.

‘Barcode everyone at birth’

Editor's Note: The Establishment loves to publicize calls for "barcode IDs" and "chip implants" by popular authors and Icons in the film and music industries, in order to acclimate the masses to such an idea. Of course this is dangerous due to the fact that government amasses power and control at the people's peril.

11And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.   12And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.   13And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,   14And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.   15And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.   16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:   17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.   18Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.   -REVELATION

This week science fiction writer Elizabeth Moon argues that everyone should be given a barcode at birth.
“If I were empress of the Universe I would insist on every individual having a unique ID permanently attached - a barcode if you will; an implanted chip to provide an easy, fast inexpensive way to identify individuals.
It would be imprinted on everyone at birth. Point the scanner at someone and there it is.
Having such a unique barcode would have many advantages. In war soldiers could easily differentiate legitimate targets in a population from non combatants.
This could prevent mistakes in identity, mistakes that result in the deaths of innocent bystanders. Weapons systems would record the code of the use, identifying how fired which shot and leading to more accountability in the field.
Anonymity would be impossible as would mistaken identity making it easier to place responsibility accurately, not only in war but also in non-combat situations far from the war.”
You can listen to Elizabeth discuss her idea with aerial warfare expertElizabeth Quintana  and war ethics authority David Rodin in more detail on the BBC World Service programme The Forum, where you can also download more 60-second ideas.

Police Set To Use Armed Drones Against Americans

Rubber bullets and tear gas
Infowars.com
Wednesday, May 23, 2012
First we were bombarded with the news that 30,000 drones would be spying on us domestically and within weeks the agenda has already moved on to arming the drones with non-lethal weapons.
CBS DC reports that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Texas “is considering using rubber bullets and tear gas on its drone.”
“It’s simply not appropriate to use any of force, lethal or non-lethal, on a drone,” responded Catherine Crump, staff attorney for the ACLU.
As we reported last year, although the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office initially claimed the drone would be used for surveillance only, the ShadowHawk Unmanned Aerial Vehicle had previously been used against suspected terrorists in Afghanistan and East Africa, and has the ability to tase suspects from above as well as carrying 12-gauge shotguns and grenade launchers.
This is a frightening new advance in the government’s war on the American people and a shocking indication of how the apparatus of the war on terror has been focused internally.
Watch a clip about the ShadowHawk drone below.

Doha Bank Chief Confirms New World Order Is Being Built at the Highest Levels

Doha Bank (Q.S.C) : The Crisis is an Opportunity to attain the UN’s Millennium Development Goals … The United Nations General Assembly’s “High-Level Thematic Debate on the State of the World Economy” was held at ECOSOC Chamber, North Lawn Building, United Nations, New York between 17- 18th May 2012. Mr. R. Seetharaman, Doha Bank Group CEO participated in the Roundtable 4 Session “Increasing stability, predictability and transparency in the financial sector on 18th May 2012. – 4-traders.com (5/20/12)
A.M. Freyed
Infowars.com
You believe in the “new world order?” You’re a paranoid nutball, right? Well, here’s a revealing report showing the global regulatory solutions to the four-year old financial crisis and the realization of a UN-based “new world order” are intimately linked.
This is not some crazy “conspiracy theory.” This is the analysis of Mr. R. Seetharaman, CEO of Qatar’s largest, private commercial bank incorporated in 1979.
It’s hot off the presses as of May 20th, published by 4-traders.com and posted at the Doha Bank media center. One can pooh-pooh Mr. Seetharaman’s position based on the idea that Qatar is one of those funny, little Middle Eastern countries. But as we have pointed out previously, the powers-that-be are engaged in a full-on Westernization process of Islam using the smallest Middle Eastern countries as a kind of monetary wedge.
With the backing of media-giant Bloomberg, Qatar has been picked to provide the QIBOR (a replacement for the staggering LIBOR) providing a daily reference point for banks borrowing unsecured funds from other banks. Total amount of funds affected? Up to US$90 trillion.
Qatar is a “player.” So, likely, is Seetharaman. Here’s a little more:
Mr. Seetharaman highlighted the regulatory reforms in response to the crisis. He said “In response to the crisis the Global regulatory reforms had been actively reviewed under the leadership of G20 countries in co-ordination with financial stability Board (FSB), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Bank for International settlements (BIS). The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act in US implemented the regulatory reforms in response to the crisis.
The Volcker’s Rule was enacted under this regulation to restrict proprietary trading. The SEC also proposed tougher disclosure rules for Hedge fund and private equity firms. FSB, IMF and BIS are working on macro-prudential policy frameworks, including tools to mitigate the impact of excessive capital flows. Policy framework for systemically important financial institutions, regulation and oversight of shadow banking, risk practices on structured products were some of the areas which required review in the light of current crisis. Basel 3 is also planned to be implemented.”
Here’s a brief bio of Seetharaman from his own webpage:
“Mr. R. Seetharaman is the Chief Executive Officer of Doha Bank Group. Mr. Seetharaman has nearly three decades of experience in banking, information technology and consultancy. He has a distinguished academic background – he is a Chartered Accountant and holds certificates in IT Systems and Corporate Management, whilst being a gold medalist in his graduation Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Madras in the year 1979. His specialization includes Managerial Economics.”
What are the UN’s Millennium Development goals? According to Wikipedia (as footnoted via a UN background page), there are eight of them agreed to by “all 193 United Nations member states and at least 23 international organizations” … to be realized by the year 2015. Goals are:
•eradicating extreme poverty and hunger,
•achieving universal primary education,
•promoting gender equality and empowering women
•reducing child mortality rates,
•improving maternal health,
•combating HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases,
•ensuring environmental sustainability, and
•developing a global partnership for development.
Sounds good? Not so fast. The UN is surely a weapon of the super-elite that wants to run the world. “Environmental sustainability” (the 7th goal) is a Trojan Horse for full-fledged eco-fascism and “green control” of every part of one’s life and livelihood.
Mr. Seetharaman is seemingly enthusiastic about all this, however. The article expands on his viewpoints, which must certainly be shared by others at his level. Here’s some more:
Mr. Seetharaman correlated the UN millennium development goals with regulatory reforms and economic development. He said “The current realignment of global architecture will support the achievement of one of the 8 UN Millennium development goals “to develop a global partnership for development” which aims to develop further an open, rule-based, predictable, non-discriminatory trading and financial system. Economies need to integrate the principles of sustainable development into their policies and programs and reverse loss of environmental resources.
This will also enable such economies to achieve the UN Millennium development goal of “Ensure environmental sustainability”. Qatar’s National Vision 2030 has also considered environment development as one of the pillars of its vision. Financial sector can also participate in this sustainable development by taking initiatives to “Manage Climate Change and Mitigate Global Warming.”
Thanks, Mr. Seetharaman for providing a glimpse as to how global regulatory reform is being tailored to support eco-fascism. The question is how.
The answer is … (of course) by force.
What Seetharaman is revealing is that the various regulatory facilities now being put into place are going to give top regulators the power to force the global network of too-big-to-fail banks to abide by UN policy.
The elites are apparently formalizing power via a worldwide regulatory menu that includes control of money itself (capital flows) control over proprietary trading (what one can invest in) and, generally, regulation that will compel participants in global markets to share their most personal and private investment data.
No secrets will be kept from a larger Eye.
People are not apt to follow global regulatory issues closely, but this article reveals to us how elaborately intertwined financial and political power have become at the very top of the elite conversation. Step by step, the “new world order” nears reality.

New Bill Would Make It Legal To Target Propaganda And “Psychological Operations” Directly At U.S. Citizens

Michael Snyder
The American Dream
Tuesday, May 22, 2012
Should it be legal for the U.S. government to spend billions of dollars on propaganda designed to change public opinion in the United States?  Should it be legal for the U.S. government to use television, radio, newspapers, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogs and Internet forums to conduct “psychological operations” targeted at the American public?

An amendment that has been added to a new defense bill in Congress would make it legal to target propaganda and “psychological operations” directly at U.S. citizens.  The latest version of the National Defense Authorization Act would overturn the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 and the Foreign Relations Authorization Act of 1987.  Those two laws essentially make it illegal for propaganda that is used to influence public opinion overseas to be targeted at U.S. citizens back here at home.  If those two laws are struck down, there will be essentially very few limits to what the U.S. government can do to shape our opinions.  The government would be able to bombard us with propaganda messages on television, on the radio, in our newspapers and on the Internet and there would not even be a requirement that those messages be true.  In fact, just as happens so often overseas, it would likely be inevitable that the government would purposely disseminate misinformation to the American public for the sake of “national security”.  That is why it is imperative that this bill not become law.
As an article posted on LegalInsurrection.com correctly noted, this bill has already been passed by the U.S. House of Representatives….
Their bill was included as amendment 114 to the Defense Authorization Act and passed out of the House on Friday, May 18. It would amend two existing acts: the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 and the Foreign Relations Authorization Act (1987).
Fortunately, it looks like this amendment might run into some trouble in the U.S. Senate.  But during an election year, not many politicians want to appear “soft” when it comes to national security, so it is definitely not a sure thing that the Senate will reject this amendment.
This amendment has been kind of “flying under the radar”, so now would be a good time to contact your U.S. Senators and let them know exactly how you feel about this.
So precisely what would this new amendment do?
A recent article by Michael Hastings of Buzzfeed.com did a good job of explaining how it would change things….
The new law would give sweeping powers to the State Department and Pentagon to push television, radio, newspaper, and social media onto the U.S. public. “It removes the protection for Americans,” says a Pentagon official who is concerned about the law. “It removes oversight from the people who want to put out this information. There are no checks and balances. No one knows if the information is accurate, partially accurate, or entirely false.”
Do you want the Obama administration to use mass media in the United States to push a particular political or social agenda?
Do you want the State Department and the Pentagon to conduct psychological operations targeted at you, your family and your friends?
Do you want to see and hear government propaganda everywhere you go?
In a previous article I detailed 25 ways that America is becoming more like Nazi Germany, and I suppose I now have another item to add to the list.
Sadly, the government is already “pushing the envelope” when it comes to using the media.  In his recent article, Michael Hastings detailed some examples of how the Pentagon is already attempting to shape public opinion in the United States….
In December, the Pentagon used software to monitor the Twitter debate over Bradley Manning’s pre-trial hearing; another program being developed by the Pentagon would design software to create “sock puppets” on social media outlets; and, last year, General William Caldwell, deployed an information operations team under his command that had been trained in psychological operations to influence visiting American politicians to Kabul.
According to U.S. Representative Mac Thornberry, one of the sponsors of the bill, current law “ties the hands of America’s diplomatic officials, military, and others by inhibiting our ability to effectively communicate in a credible way.”
Apparently we cannot think for ourselves and we need the government to help us to see things more clearly.
But when it comes to “psychological operations”, the people that run them do not always play nice.
Just check out what happened recently to two USA Today reporters….
A USA TODAY reporter and editor investigating Pentagon propaganda contractors have themselves been subjected to a propaganda campaign of sorts, waged on the Internet through a series of bogus websites.
Fake Twitter and Facebook accounts have been created in their names, along with a Wikipedia entry and dozens of message board postings and blog comments. Websites were registered in their names.
If this new bill becomes law, there will be very few limits on what the government can do.
And just like the two USA Today reporters, you could end up being a target.

A Shill By Any Other Name, Is Still A Shill

"We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time magazine, and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings, and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during these years. But the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government which will never again know war but only peace and prosperity for the whole of humanity." -David Rockefeller, June 5, 1991 speaking at a Bilderberg Meeting in Sand Germany
When I was growing up, there were saturday cartoons which I would wake up eagerly to watch. In between the different cartoons there would be instructional cartoons-one of which would teach valuable lessons to children all over the country who would be watching. One phrase taught by a super hero would be "Knowing is half the Battle!" Apparently, if we at least knew of a problem, we would then be able to work at a solution.

In today's world, this lesson holds very true. If a doctor can come to know of a problem and correctly identify it, he can then begin to determine a solution whether it be medicine or surgery. In the same way our government can solve problems if they know what the root of the problem is.

There are those in high places, however, who have a plan to consolidate economic and political power on a global scale, who also want to do so while withholding this knowledge from the masses in order to prevent the masses from stopping such a drastic move.

Those Elitists bent on such a dramatic change on a global scale know that to do so, they would have to control the media on a world-wide scale in order to prevent the true agenda of a one world government from coming to the knowledge of the masses.

David Rockefeller, among other elitists knew that they would have to control the media in order to shade or cover their true goal of world domination. News and journalism in its purest form should seek to inform the public so that the public then can take some action to prepare, or correct some problem when it develops. News is meant to inform us in an unbiased way, so that we may have a clear view of the events that are shaping our world. It is often said that "Knowledge is power", and this is the reason that those who have a desire to control us also have a desire to control the media.

Of course there are many news agencies to choose from now days, and so the average American feels confident they are being well informed about the world around them. But are we being informed if those many news agencies are all under the unbrella of a dominating cartel? Over the past decade there have been several mergers that have taken place so that a majority of the News and Entertainment media are now under the control of a few transnational conglomerates. Companies such as AOL Time Warner, Disney, News Corp, Viacom, and Sony.

According to an article in The New American,
Passive media consumers generally don't understand the extent to which the cartel limits their options. For example, Viacom owns both the CBS and UPN television networks, as well as Showtime, MTV, Paramount Pictures, and Simon & Schuster Books. Disney owns the ABC, A&E, and Lifetime networks, co-owns ESPN, and operates Disney's well-known motion picture properties. AOL Time Warner is not only the world's largest internet service provider, but also owns the CNN, TNT, TBS, and HBO networks, Warner Brother studios, and a host of publishing ventures. - The New American, Vol. 19, No.3 February 10, 2003, pg 9 article: 'No Channels,No Choice'.
Is it any wonder that we hear the same news on every channel we turn to? Try it sometime- turn to a news channel and watch the main three stories they cover, and then turn to another station, and you will more than likely hear about the same three stories. Sometimes they are almost word for word.

As  a salesman, I used to drive to people's homes in order to sell a product to them. I would have a prepared presentation in which I would slowly convince them that my company, product, and price were all the solution to their problem. It would be important for me to gain their trust, and to make them aware of the problems they were currently experiencing. I would in effect present a 'Problem-Reaction-Solution' presentation in order to win them as a customer.

Throughout the presentation, I would get them to commit to various aspects of my company, my product, and ultimately to my final price. The presentation would usually take 2 or three hours, and if I took shortcuts in my pitch, I would usually walk out empty handed.

Today, in the news world we also have salesmen (and women) who come into our homes in order to sell us on an idea or issue. Usually these issues in some way, shape, or form lead us to side with the establishment's goal of global governance. These salesmen and women are refered to as "shills."

What is a shill- you may ask?
A shill is an associate of a person selling goods or services or a political group, who pretends no association to the seller/group and assumes the air of an enthusiastic customer. The intention of the shill is, using crowd psychology, to encourage others unaware of the set-up to purchase said goods or services or support the political group's ideological claims. Shills are often employed by confidence artists. The term plant is also used. -Wikipedia
News broadcasters such as Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Keith Olberman, along with others are on TV to guide us through so-called "journalism" (fair and balanced) in order to fully inform us. They say things like " The Spin stops here- cause we're looking out for you." But the question is, are they really looking out for us- or are they pushing the agenda of the corporations and the military industrial complex, who inturn are pushing the policies of "think tanks" such as the Council on Foreign Relations, or the Trilateral Commission who were established by elitists such as David Rockefeller, and Zbigiew Brzezinski?

Topics such as War, Taxes, Flu vaccinations, and  Stimuluses are shown to the public as vital to support in order to keep a "crisis from becoming a catastrophe", yet they won't tell the public that these very same issues are costing us trillions of dollars, and are all unnecessary if we would just abide by the constitution. Wars wouldn't be long and drawn out, (if they were even necesssary in the first place), and if necessary, they would be declared by congress and settled quickly, as a true budget would not support these current wars. Taxes would not be hidden in the form called inflation because we wouldn't have a Central Bank called the "Federal Reserve" that could print money out of thinair in the first place! But yet the 'spin doctors' on the nightly news teach us that "War is Peace" and "Freedom is Slavery" when they portray the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan as necessary to our national security! Tapping our phones and monitoring every transaction, or internet site we look at is somehow keeping us free!

Here are a few more definitions which will clarify the true job of a shill in various ways:

 Shills in journalism
The term is applied metaphorically to journalists or commentators who have vested interests in or associations with parties in a controversial issue. Usually this takes the form of a show or network pretending to be offering news when in fact they are simply repeating talking points offered by a political party. Journalistic ethics require full disclosure of conflicts of interest, and of any interference by other parties with the reportage.  -Wikipedia

Critical shills

Sometimes shills may be used to downplay legitimate complaints posted by users on the Internet. See Spin (public relations) and sock puppet (internet). -Wikipedia

Spin (public relations)

In public relations, spin is a form of propaganda, achieved through providing an interpretation of an event or campaign to persuade public opinion in favor or against a certain organization or public figure. While traditional public relations may also rely on creative presentation of the facts, "spin" often, though not always, implies disingenuous, deceptive and/or highly manipulative tactics.

Politicians are often accused by their opponents of claiming to be honest and seek the truth while using spin tactics to manipulate public opinion. -Wikipedia

"Burying bad news": announcing one popular thing at the same time as several unpopular things, hoping that the media will focus on the popular one.

State-run media in many countries also engage in spin by only allowing news stories that are favorable to the government while censoring anything that could be considered critical.

To Shill
(pejorative) To promote or endorse in return for payment, especially dishonestly. -Wictionary

  • 1996, Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World,

Today there are even commercials in which real scientists, some of considerable distinction, shill for corporations. They teach that scientists too will lie for money. As Tom Paine warned, inuring us to lies lays the groundwork for many other evils. -Wictionary
You will notice a few things about all of these shills in the news, whether they are on the Left or the Right, the all try to discredit key issues that are important to those who seek after true liberty. Some of these issues are:
  • The truth about 9/11: They will call those who wish to have another investigation (those refered to as 9/11 truthers)  wackos, nuts, racists, and terrorists in effect. Often times they will invite "9/11 truthers" on TV, only to yell at and discredit them on the air, so making all those who would want an investigation look un-American, psychotic, or extremist.
  • National Healthcare: Again those who would oppose this issue are painted as uncaring towards the poor, or out for insurance companies and special interests groups. Those who speak out at the Town Hall meetings are refered to as terrorists, Nazis and even "astroturf" (Nancy Pelosi said this). One thing that is never mentioned by either side is whether congress even has the right to be nationalizing healthcare! Those who attend the "Tea Parties" are called "Tea Baggers" (a sexually explicit term used by media shills to make fun of, and to discredit the people bringing up real issues that the astablishment wishes to avoid).
  • The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan: News Agencies such as Fox News are really hardcore about supporting the "war on Terror" and insist that it is patriotic to stay in Iraq and Afghanistan to "preserve democracy." (Notice too, that it's a 'Democracy' that we are protecting and not the 'Republic' that we pledged alliance to.) If you are against the wars, then you are unpatriotic. When Ron Paul spoke of "blowback" because of the foreign policy of America towards Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan, Rudy Guilliani tried to make Ron Paul look as though he was un-American. The networks covering the elections all seemed to marginalize Ron Paul because he was against the agenda of the "Neo-cons" and the military industrial complex. The 'spin' here is again, "War is Peace."
  • On the issue of Obama's elidgibility: Here is another issue that will not be touched with a ten-foot pole by the media shills. If it is ever mentioned at all, it is painted in such a ridiculous hue of sarcasm that those questioning this very relevant issue are also painted as racist, or as sore losers because a democrat won the office. The term "Birthers" is used for the group of people concerned about the status of Barack Obama, and is spoken in a derogatory manner in order to downplay the severity of the implications behind the question of Obama's elidgiblity.

Burying the news is another tool of the shill. A good example of this was the day Michael Jackson died. Every media channel covered the event as if the President was the subject instead of a singer. All the while, the Pope was giving a speech calling for a "World Economic Order"!! How many of the average people on the street knew anything about the Pope's speech? I'm confident in saying that a majority knew nothing about it (and probably still to this day know nothing of it), but they can tell you all about the pomp and ceremony that went on with Michael Jackson's funeral arrangements, tribute, etc.

Another example was a story that was published on December 26, 2001 in an Egyptian paper about the death and the funeral of Osama Bin Laden!!!! How many news agencies covered this in America? How many Americans are there that have ever seen this article? This of course, if true, would have spoiled the plan of finding Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan would it not? What excuse would the elitists used for invading Afghanistan then? Whether or not the account is true- wouldn't it have been on the front cover of the papers if news such as this would have somehow furthered the cause of those plotting for a "New World Order"?

Even the whole Global Warming Scandal was pushed by shills who covered up evidence to push the agenda of Global Warming in order to bring all nations under a carbon tax and regulations that will in effect lead to Global Government. Here's what Carl Sagan said once in 1996, but describes the 'ClimateGate' shill tactic well:

1996, Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World,

Today there are even commercials in which real scientists, some of considerable distinction, shill for corporations. They teach that scientists too will lie for money. As Tom Paine warned, inuring us to lies lays the groundwork for many other evils. -Wictionary

Often, those who are considered to be conservatives or Republican will often get their news from Fox News, which is considered to be a right leaning alternative to CNN and other establishment news. However, it is important to note that Fox is owned by Rupert Murdoch.

Fox News is the showpiece property of News Corp, a transnational  media empire owned by Australian expatriate - and CFR member - Rupert Murdoch. The $38 billion Murdoch global empire (which includes theNew York Post and half dozen major news publishers) was built on a foundation of Fleet Street tabloids in London. Fox Broadcasting Company's primetime entertainment programs rely heavily on titillation and "edgy" sexual content. ...Conservatives and liberals alike regard Murdoch's Fox News Channel as a right leaning alternative to CNN and the network evening news.....Fox News boasts the motto, "We report-you decide," which many percieve as  a commitment to independence and objectivity. But that credo can also be viewed as a variation on the New York Times' motto, "All the News that's Fit to Print," after all, who decides what is reported by Fox News? Do Murdoch's Insider connections and calculations of corporate self-interest play a gatekeeping role in defining Fox's news coverage? Murdoch's media track record abroad demonstrates that he's very much in the business of dispensing managed media. - The New American, Vol. 19, No.3, February 10, 2003, pg 11, article: Many Channels,No Choice.
This is why it is so important to understand that there are alternatives to the establishment news. The internet is a very important source of news to any American who wants to awaken out of the trance that the controlled media has been keeping them in. There are many great sites that you can get your news from on the internet. You can read multiple versions of an event or issue so that you can judge the veracity of an issue, and determine the motive of the source. In this way, you will become an informed American who can properly defend himself against the onslaught of Shills that are out to get the masses to follow them. It reminds me of the fairy tale of the "Pied Piper", who played a sweet melody and led all the rats out of the city to their demise.

So whether they are called Conservative, Liberal, Democrat, or Republican-
A Shill By Any Other Name, Is Still A Shill.
