Matheny's Note: Here we see the Two Beasts of Revelation 13. The first Beast rising out of the sea (EU) verses 1-10, and the Beast rising out of the earth (United States)verses 11-17. Notice the verse descriptive of the 2nd Beast rising up out of the earth: "And he(the United States) exercises all the authority of the first  beast (The EU) in its presence, and causes the earth and those dwelling in it to worship the first Beast.... Remember the words of Leon Panetta, the Secretary of defense when he stated that we have authority to go to war by UN RESOLUTION!!!! -exercising the authority of the first beast!!!!  Wake up people!!! Europol in the U.S. — Beginning of an EU-U.S. Police Merger?
Europol, the burgeoning police and intelligence agency of the European Union, has many people in Europe concerned about its continuously expanding mission and powers (see here and here). Now the agency appears to be getting ready to extend its reach into the United States in new ways, as part of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) being promoted by President Obama and a powerful coalition (see here andhere ) of Wall Street one-worlders and globalist corporate executives.
On April 16, the Delegation of the European Union to the United States and Europol welcomed more than 140 members of the U.S. and European law enforcement communities for an in-depth discussion of transatlantic cooperation on law enforcement in Washington, D.C. According to the EU delegation’s press release on the event, the conference topics covered would include “cyber crime, terrorism, and crimes related to intellectual property rights.”
“As globalization intensifies, we have to recognize that crime has also become increasingly multinational, multifaceted, innovative and disruptive, and not in a good way,” EU Ambassador to the United States Joao Vale de Almeida said during his introduction. “The onus is on us, the EU and the U.S., public and law enforcement officials, to ensure that as we prepare to deepen our economic ties [through a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership], we adapt effectively to this transformation. We also need to consider how to align our law enforcement resources to ensure that as we open up the opportunity for businesses and working families, we also keep criminal interests in check.”
Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Jane Holl Lute reinforced the EU-U.S. convergence theme. She said, “Working together, we have already begun to see how we can transform the way in which we protect our nations, and our citizens, against the shared threats that we face. Whether those threats are from terrorists, cyber criminals, or those who seek to steal intellectual property ... the cooperation between our law enforcement agencies, governments, and our nations have never been stronger, and its impact has never been greater.” (A video recording of the conference can be viewed on You Tube here.)
The sparse reportage of this important development in EU-U.S. relations left unmentioned the fact that Europol, like so many of the EU’s institutions, has incrementally taken on increased powers, with the European Commission always citing some crisis or exigency allegedly requiring more centralized police authority.
The EU’s steady erosion of the independence and sovereignty of its member states is not  occurring by chance. As The New American has previously reported in many articles (see articles listed below), the architects of the Common Market (as the EU was known in one of its earliest incarnations) insisted from the start that the “project” would never evolve into a central government or in any way compromise the sovereignty of the nations involved. All the while, the same designers — as their correspondence and private speeches and communications show — were working assiduously to create a supranational federal government that would completely override the nation states of Europe. With the conclusion of the Lisbon Treaty, the people of the European Union were tricked, bribed, browbeaten, and cajoled into jettisoning almost every remaining vestige of sovereignty.
EU Ambassador to the U.S. Joao Vale de Almeida (quoted above) has been a key functionary in this subversion of sovereignty, including assisting in negotiating the deceptive and subversive Lisbon Treaty. As we reported earlier this week, many of the most influential people in the U.S. government and foreign policy and economic establishments are completely in tune with this subversive process. Our article, “CFR Applauds European Union’s ‘Real Subversion of Sovereignty’ ” links to a video of a recent panel discussion at which top members of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) explicitly acknowledge and applaud the fact that “there’s real subversion of sovereignty by the EU that works.”
It is not surprising then to see the CFR well represented at this recent Europol conference. Among those attending the conference for the United States — and speaking at it — were:
• Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano (CFR)
• Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Jane Holl Lute (CFR)
• Director of the Stein Program on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, Washington Institute for Near East Policy Matthew Levitt (CFR)
“Eroding Sovereignty Piece by Piece”
In 1974, CFR member Richard N. Gardner penned a signal article in the CFR journal Foreign Affairs entitled "The Hard Road to World Order." Since hopes for "instant world government" under the United Nations had proven illusory, he wrote, the best hope for building "the house of world order" lay in a longrange "end run around national sovereignty, eroding it piece by piece." This could best be done, he noted, on an ad hoc basis with treaties and international "arrangements" — on environment, trade, security, etc. — that could later be brought within "the central institutions of the U.N. system." Gardner, now a professor emeritus of law at Columbia University, served in ambassadorial and diplomatic posts for Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, and Clinton.
The Council on Foreign Relations has been pursuing that end-run strategy around national sovereignty — through both Republican and Democrat administrations — for many decades now. In a 2006 op-ed entitled “State sovereignty must be altered in globalized era,” CFR President Richard Haass argued that “in the age of globalization, states should give up some sovereignty to world bodies.” The CFR chief claimed that “sovereignty is not only becoming weaker in reality, but that it needs to become weaker.” Haass and his fellow one-worlders in the CFR globalist cabal are now pushing to destroy U.S. sovereignty in the same way that the EU has all but completely destroyed the national sovereignty of its member states. The primary vehicle currently being promoted by the CFR and the Obama administration to entangle the United States in the EU project is the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). President Obama is calling on Congress to give him “fast track” Trade Promotion Authority that would enable him to push the TTIP through Congress with little or no debate and no amendments.

UNPRECEDENTED Shortages Of Ammo, Physical Gold And Physical Silver

The Economic Collapse
April 27, 2013

Panic Button By John On FlickrAll over the United States we are witnessing unprecedented shortages of ammunition, physical gold and physical silver.  Recent events have helped fuel a "buying frenzy" that threatens to spiral out of control.  Gun shops all over the nation are reporting that they have never seen it this bad, and in many cases any ammo that they are able to get is being sold even before it hits the shelves.  The ammo shortage has already become so severe that police departments all over America are saying that they are being told that it is going to take six months to a year to get their orders.  In fact, many police departments have begun to trade and barter with one another to get the ammo that they need.  Meanwhile, the takedown of paper gold and paper silver has unleashed an avalanche of "panic buying" of physical gold and physical silver all over the planet.  In the United States, some dealers are charging premiums of more than 25 percent over the spot price for gold and silver and they are getting it.  People are paying these prices even though they are being told that delivery will not happen for a month or two in many cases.  Some dealers are feverishly taking as many orders as they can, and they are just hoping that they will be able to get the physical gold and silver to eventually fill those orders.  Personally, I have never seen anything like this.  If things are this tight now, what is going to happen when the next major financial crisis strikes and people really begin to panic?
The shortages and rationing of ammunition at gun shops all over America just seem to keep getting worse.  The following is from an article by a gun owner down in Texas named Brad Meyer...
If you’d like to see a normally sullen sales clerk chortle with derisive pleasure, just walk into just about any gun range, sporting goods store or mass merchandiser and try and buy a couple boxes of .22 ammunition.
Gun enthusiasts are up in arms about a nationwide shortage of ammunition. Handgun ammo in general is particularly difficult to find – and when you do find it, there are restrictions on the amount you can buy and how much you’re going to be paying for it.
While the list of hard to find ammo is long, .22 long rifle and 9mm handgun ammunition are particularly difficult to find in quantity. And the few places that have it are charging a premium rate and usually limiting purchases to one box, per person, per day.
Many gun owners try to find ammunition by going on the Internet, but things have gotten so tight that now any ammo that becomes available online is often gone within seconds...
There are websites where people across the country post links to where ammunition is available – and it sells out within seconds. Not minutes or hours – seconds.
Unfortunately, all of this demand is also driving up prices.  Just check out what Meyer says is happening to the price of standard .22 ammo...
The demand is driving up the cost of ammunition. Six months ago, standard .22 ammo – the most common type of bullet produced in the world – could be had in bulk for around five cents apiece. It is now going for 50 cents or more on some websites – and people are paying it.
But this shortage is not just affecting private citizens.  According toNewmax, police departments all over the nation are dealing with ammo shortages unlike anything that they have ever seen before...
Sheriff Anthony DeMeo of Nye County, Nev., was told his department’s regular order of 50,000 rounds could take up to a year to arrive.
“This is the first time ever I’ve heard that there’s a problem with a law-enforcement agency getting ammo for their agency,” DeMeo told The Las Vegas Sun.
These departments are not alone. Law enforcement agencies in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia are among many that are having to limit how much they give their officers due to the shortage.
Could you imagine waiting for "up to a year" to get more ammunition?

Ministry of Truth: Google reports record spike in government requests to remove content

The Guardian
April 26, 2013
Governments made a record number of requests for Google to remove political content in the last half of 2012, the search giant said on Thursday.
The number of official requests for content to be removed jumped 26% in the final six months of 2012 compared to the start of the year, according to the latest Google Transparency Report. Google received 2,285 government requests to remove 24,179 pieces of content – an increase from 1,811 requests to remove 18,070 pieces of content that the company received during the first half of 2012.
Requests were made to pull videos from YouTube, delete blog posts on Google’s Blogger service and to remove items from Google search, making them harder to find.

Reps challenge DHS ammo buys, say agency using 1,000 more rounds per person than Army

Fox News
April 26, 2013

Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz said Thursday that the Department of Homeland Security is using roughly 1,000 rounds of ammunition more per person than the U.S. Army, as he and other lawmakers sharply questioned DHS officials on their "massive" bullet buys.

"It is entirely ... inexplicable why the Department of Homeland Security needs so much ammunition," Chaffetz, R-Utah, said at a hearing.

The hearing itself was unusual, as questions about the department's ammunition purchases until recently had bubbled largely under the radar -- on blogs and in the occasional news article. But as the Department of Homeland Security found itself publicly defending the purchases, lawmakers gradually showed more interest in the issue.

Democratic Rep. John Tierney, D-Mass., at the opening of the hearing, ridiculed the concerns as "conspiracy theories" which have "no place" in the committee room.

But Republicans said the purchases raise "serious" questions about waste and accountability.
Chaffetz, who chairs one of the House oversight subcommittees holding the hearing Thursday, revealed that the department currently has more than 260 million rounds in stock. He said the department bought more than 103 million rounds in 2012 and used 116 million that same year -- among roughly 70,000 agents.
Comparing that with the small-arms purchases procured by the U.S. Army, he said the DHS is churning through between 1,300 and 1,600 rounds per officer, while the U.S. Army goes through roughly 350 rounds per soldier.

He noted that is "roughly 1,000 rounds more per person."

US perpetrates "Boston bombings" weekly using drones worldwide: Report

Press TV
April 25, 2013

Even as Americans grieve over the Boston Marathon bombings, they should know that US assassination drone strikes worldwide kill many more people weekly and continue unpunished, an analyst says.

“While we mourn the horrific events in Boston, we must remember that our government perpetrates a Boston bombing weekly in Pakistan, Yemen and Afghanistan,” political commentator Sean McElwee says.

He adds that although the White House administration alleges that it prefers trials for the rule of law, the true reason for its targeted killing program across the globe is that: it’s cleaner, simpler and less embarrassing to just off the suspected terrorists. The government uses mafia logic - why waste time and energy risking the rule of law when you can just swoop in and launch a smart bomb?

On April 15, the twin bombings near the finish line of the Boston Marathon killed three people and injured more than 170.

At least five people were killed and seven others injured on April 17 in an attack by a US terror drone in northwestern Pakistan’s tribal region. The drone strike took place in South Waziristan’s Babar Ghar area.

Local officials said the US drones fired two missiles at a house in South Waziristan, and that the house was completely destroyed in the attack.

On April 14, four people were killed by a US terror drone in the Datta Khel area, located some 35 kilometers (22 miles) west of Miranshah, in North Waziristan.

Media Narrative: Witnessing Boston’s Mass Casualty Event

Global Research
April 22, 2013

bostonmanhunt4
“For the most part we do not first see, and then define,” Walter Lippmann observed in 1921, “we define first and then see. In the great blooming, buzzing confusion of the outer world we pick out what our culture has already defined for us, and we tend to perceive that which we have picked out in the form stereotyped for us by our culture.”[1]
A founding member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Lippmann looked with suspicion to the potential dangers the hopelessly uninformed public posed in the unfolding “Great Society.” Along these lines, a veteran mind control expert interviewed in 2001 by investigative journalist Jon Rappoport observes,
The media gives you the illusion that you are seeing something. That’s the billion‐dollar key to mind control … 90% of all the mind control in the world is done by the media, and it is all based on the viewer or the reader never seeing anything really beyond the surface of what is presented.”[2]
What exactly took place on April 15 at the Boston Marathon is unclear, yet what is now evident is a stark divergence between the narrative description of excessive carnage meted out as a result of the explosive devices and at least a portion of the video and photographic documentation of the bombing itself.
The corporate media proceeded in lockstep with dutifully propagating the authorized narrative of a combat-like environment at the marathon finish line. “Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis said Monday night that the death toll had risen to three,” CNN told its viewers.
Scores were injured at the scene. One of the dead was an 8-year-old boy, according to a state law enforcement source. Hospitals reported at least 144 people are being treated, with at least 17 of them in critical condition and 25 in serious condition. At least eight of the patients are children. At least 10 people injured had limbs amputated, according to a terrorism expert briefed on the investigation. Several of the patients treated at Massachusetts General Hospital suffered injuries to lower limbs that will require “serial operations” in the coming days, trauma surgeon Peter Fagenholz said Monday night. Some injuries were so severe amputations were necessary, Fagenholz added.[3]
Much like the 24-hour cable news coverage, more prestigious venues such as the New York Times provided a graphic account alongside disturbing images of the aftermath, under the April 16 headline, “BLASTS AT BOSTON MARATHON KILL 3 AND INJURE 100.”
“These runners just finished and they don’t have legs now,” said Roupen Bastajian, 35, a Rhode Island state trooper and former Marine. “So many of them. there are so many people without legs. It’s all blood. There’s blood everywhere. You got bones, fragments. It’s disgusting … We put tournquets on,” Mr. Bastajian said. “I tied at least five, six legs with tourniquets.”[4]
Testimony in the newspaper of record from another eyewitness relates similarly gory details.
Deidre Hatfield, 27, was steps away from the finish line when she heard a blast. She saw bodies flying out into the street. She saw a couple of children who appeared lifeless. She saw people without legs. “When the bodies landed around me I thought: Am I burning? Maybe I’m burning and I don’t feel it,” Ms. Hatfield said … She looked inside a Starbucks to her left, where she thought a blast might have occurred. “What was so eerie, you looked in you knew there had to be 100 people in there, but there was no sign of movement.”[5]
The country’s commander-in-chief then publicly confirmed how the federal government would avenge the violence and bloodshed.
President Obama, speaking at the White House, vowed to bring those responsible for the blast to justice. “We will get to the bottom of this,” the president said. “We will find who did this, and we will find out why they did this. Any responsible individuals, any responsible groups will feel the full weight of justice.”[6]
Does a compelling description of a terrorist attack replete with “eyewitness accounts” of the terrifying scene and official pronouncements constitute an actual event? The available video evidence reveals an explosion occurring at 2:50PM across Boylston Street from the finish line bleachers, the exact point where the national media’s camera lenses were transfixed. The abundant media presence alongside personal cellphone cameras have provided abundant footage of the event and its immediate aftermath.
Despite the seemingly formidable explosions very few bodies and no severed limbs are observable on the ground, even though there are numerous people exhibiting bewilderment and apparent injuries. In short, the event closely resembles a mass-casualty drill, many of which are for training purposes designed to be as lifelike as possible. Since it is mediated, however, and primarily experienced from afar through the careful assemblage of words, images, and the official pronouncements and commentary of celebrity journalists, it has the semblance of being for all practical purposes “real.”

REPORT: HOUSE, SENATE LEADERS TRYING TO EXEMPT THEMSELVES FROM OBAMACARE

Breitbart
April 25, 2013

Congressional leaders of both parties in the House and Senate are trying to exempt themselves--and their staffs--from Obamacare's health insurance exchanges they will be mandated to join under the law. This would be a devastating indictment of Obamacare and the Democrats who rammed it through. Republicans may give Democrats cover if they join them in agreeing to the exemptions.

According to a Politico report, the "high-level" talks involve Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), the Obama administration and other "top lawmakers," and both sides are "acutely aware of the potential for political fallout from giving carve-outs from the hugely controversial law to 535 lawmakers and thousands of their aides."
Noting the important role that Republican lawmakers have in the talks, a source toldPolitico that, “Everyone has to hold hands on this and jump, or nothing is going to get done.”
Michael Steel, a Boehner spokesman, told Politico that Boehner's "objective is to spare the entire country from the ravages of the president’s health care law. He is approached daily by American citizens, including members of Congress and staff, who want to be freed from its mandates. If the speaker has the opportunity to save anyone from Obamacare, he will.”
Congress's approval ratings are at near historic lows, and such an exemption would make them look like hypocrites and seem more out of touch for holding themselves--and their staffers--to "a different standard than the people who put them in office."
Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), one of Obamacare's chief architects, though, insisted there would not be any additional costs to lawmakers and their aides because the federal government would still subsidize insurance bought on the exchanges. Others are less clear, which is why they have been discussing the exemptions.
If Waxman is wrong and the federal government does not subsidize the health insurance plans, Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) said it would have a "devastating" impact on staffers who would take a $7,000-a-year hit, but he did add that he had "no problems with Congress being under the same guidelines" because if Obamacare is going to be such a disaster, "we ought to enjoy it together with our constituents.”
Republicans in 2010 insisted that Congress should have the same healthcare as the American people while President Barack Obama vowed to join the healthcare exchange. Those on Committees, though, will not have to get their healthcare through the exchange. Staffers in the lawmaker's state or district would have to join their state's exchanges and D.C. staff would most likely join D.C., Maryland, or Virginia healthcare exchanges.
According to the report, lawmakers are weighing whether to exempt themselves and their aides or just their staffers.

Child Hunger Is Exploding In Greece – And 14 Signs That It Is Starting To Happen In America Too

Economic Collapse
April 25, 2013
The world is heading into a horrific economic nightmare, and an inordinate amount of the suffering is going to fall on innocent children.  If you want to get an idea of what America is going to look like in the not too distant future, just check out what is happening in Greece.  At this point, Greece is experiencing a full-blown economic depression.  As I have written about previously, the unemployment rate in Greece has now risen to 27 percent, which is much higher than the peak unemployment rate that the U.S. economy experienced during the Great Depression of the 1930s.  And as you will read about below, child hunger is absolutely exploding in Greece right now.  Some families are literally trying to survive on pasta and ketchup.  But don’t think for a moment that it can’t happen here.  Sadly, the truth is that child hunger is already rising very rapidly in our poverty-stricken cities.  Never before have we had so many Americans unable to take care of themselves.  Food stamp enrollment and child homelessness have soared to brand new all-time records, and there are actually thousands of Americans that are so poor that they live in tunnels underneath our cities.  But for millions of other Americans, the suffering is not quite so dramatic.  Instead, they just watch their hopes and their dreams slowly slip away as they struggle to find a way to make it from month to month.  There are millions of parents that lead lives that are filled with constant stress and anxiety as they try to figure out how to provide the basics for their children.  How do you tell a child that you can’t give them any dinner even though you have been trying as hard as you can?  What many families go through on a regular basis is absolutely heartbreaking.  Unfortunately, more poor families slip through the cracks with each passing day, and these are supposedly times in which we are experiencing an “economic recovery”.  So what are things going to look like when the next major economic downturn strikes?
A recent New York Times article detailed the horrifying child hunger that we are witnessing in Greece right now.  At some schools there are reports of children actually begging for food from their classmates…
As an elementary school principal, Leonidas Nikas is used to seeing children play, laugh and dream about the future. But recently he has seen something altogether different, something he thought was impossible in Greece: children picking through school trash cans for food; needy youngsters asking playmates for leftovers; and an 11-year-old boy, Pantelis Petrakis, bent over with hunger pains.
“He had eaten almost nothing at home,” Mr. Nikas said, sitting in his cramped school office near the port of Piraeus, a working-class suburb of Athens, as the sound of a jump rope skittered across the playground. He confronted Pantelis’s parents, who were ashamed and embarrassed but admitted that they had not been able to find work for months. Their savings were gone, and they were living on rations of pasta and ketchup.
Could you imagine that happening to your children or your grandchildren?
Don’t think that it can’t happen.  Just a few years ago the Greek middle class was vibrant and thriving.
And we are starting to see hunger explode in other European countries as well.  For example, in the UK the number of people receiving emergency food rations has increased by 170 percentover the past year.
This is one of the reasons why I get upset when people say that “things are getting better”.  Yes, the stock market has been setting record highs lately, but things are most definitely not getting better.
Even during this false bubble of debt-fueled economic stability that we are enjoying right now, we continue to see hunger and poverty rise dramatically in America.
Since Barack Obama has been president, the number of Americans on food stamps has grown from 32 million to more than 47 million.
Will we all be on food stamps eventually?
Will we all become dependent on the government for our survival at some point?
According to the Boston Herald, even Tamerlan Tsarnaev was receiving government welfare benefits…
Marathon bombings mastermind Tamerlan Tsarnaev was living on taxpayer-funded state welfare benefits even as he was delving deep into the world of radical anti-American Islamism, the Herald has learned.
State officials confirmed last night that Tsarnaev, slain in a raging gun battle with police last Friday, was receiving benefits along with his wife, Katherine Russell Tsarnaev, and their 3-year-old daughter. The state’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services said those benefits ended in 2012 when the couple stopped meeting income eligibility limits.
Isn’t that crazy?
And yes, there are some people out there that are abusing the system.  In fact, the cost of food stamp fraud has risen sharply toapproximately $750 million in recent years.
But most of the people on these programs really need the help.  Thanks to our incredibly foolish economic policies, there are not enough good jobs for everyone and there never will be again.  The percentage of Americans that are unable to take care of themselves is going to continue to rise, and the suffering that we are witnessing right now is going to get much, much worse.
Not that things aren’t really, really bad already.  Here are some signs that child hunger in America has already started to explode…
#1 Today, approximately 17 million children in the United States are facing food insecurity.  In other words, that means that “one in four children in the country is living without consistent access to enough nutritious food to live a healthy life.”
#2 We are told that we live in the “wealthiest nation” on the planet, and yet more than one out of every four children in the United States is enrolled in the food stamp program.
#3 The average food stamp benefit breaks down to approximately$4 per person per day.
#4 It is being projected that approximately 50 percent of all U.S. children will be on food stamps before they reach the age of 18.
#5 It may be hard to believe, but approximately 57 percent of all children in the United States are currently living in homes that are either considered to be either “low income” or impoverished.
#6 The number of children living on $2.00 a day or less in the United States has grown to 2.8 million.  That number has increased by 130 percent since 1996.
#7 According to Feeding America, “households with children reported food insecurity at a significantly higher rate than those without children, 20.6 percent compared to 12.2 percent”.
#8 According to a Feeding America hunger study, more than 37 million Americans are now being served by food pantries and soup kitchens.
#9 For the first time ever, more than a million public school students in the United States are homeless.  That number has risen by 57 percent since the 2006-2007 school year.
#10 Approximately 20 million U.S. children rely on school meal programs to keep from going hungry.
#11 One university study estimates that child poverty costs the U.S. economy 500 billion dollarseach year.
#12 In Miami, 45 percent of all children are living in poverty.
#13 In Cleveland, more than 50 percent of all children are living in poverty.
#14 According to a recently released report, 60 percent of all children in the city of Detroit are living in poverty.
For many more facts about the dramatic explosion of poverty in this country, please see my previous article entitled “21 Statistics About The Explosive Growth Of Poverty In America That Everyone Should Know“.
Unfortunately, most of the time statistics don’t really tell the whole story.  Numbers alone cannot really communicate the soul-crushing despair that millions of American families are enduring on a daily basis at this point.
How can numbers communicate the pain that a child feels when her grandmother does not eat because there is not enough food for everyone in the family?  But this is what some families in Americaactually go through because there is not enough money…
Vanyshia tells about the sacrifices her Grandmother makes so that she and her siblings can eat. “Sometimes my Grandma can’t even eat because she has to feed me and my brother and sister. Sometimes I don’t eat as much as I want to because I leave some for my Grandma because I don’t want her to sit there and starve. Sometimes she doesn’t have enough money to buy food, so she has to go to the bank and borrow money. It makes me feel sad. I don’t want her to be hungry. I just feel sad sometimes,” says Vanyshia.
Things can be particularly tough when you are a single parent.  The BBC recently profiled a single mother that is struggling to raise two young children in Iowa…
“We don’t get three meals a day like breakfast, lunch and then dinner,” says Kaylie. “When I feel hungry I feel sad and droopy.”
Kaylie and Tyler live with their mother Barbara, who used to work in a factory. After losing her job, she was entitled to unemployment benefit and food stamps – this comes to $1,480 (£974) a month.
But they were no longer able to afford to live in their house, which along with bills cost $1,326 (£873) a month, leaving little for food or petrol.
Kaylie supplemented their income by collecting cans along the railway track near their old home – earning between two and five cents per can.
For more examples like this one, I encourage everyone to go watch a recent BBC documentary entitled “America’s Poor Kids” that you can see right here.
I wonder why we don’t see more stuff like this on the mainstream news in this country?
Could it be that the mainstream media does not want to admit how bad things have really gotten?
All of this is also a reminder that we need to be generous to those in need.  Times are going to get much, much harder than this, and we are all going to need one another.
So do you have any stories of poverty or child hunger from your area of the country to share?  Please feel free to share your thoughts by posting a comment below…

Technocracy is Economics

Some people wonder why I write about Technocracy when the main focus of Findings & Forecasts is the economy. Let me be clear about this: Technocracy is an economic system (with political and social overtones) that is being increasingly implemented in the United States and around the world. It demands our attention and scrutiny, especially since there has been no public policy or economic debate whatsoever. It cannot be debated if there is no identification or larger recognition.
Technocracy as an economic theory was formalized in the 1930′s by a group known as Technocracy, Inc. Founded by M. King Hubbard (the Peak Oil Theory guy in the 1950′s) and Howard Scott (a pseudo-engineer and promoter), Technocracy was carefully defined in a widely published work, Technocracy Study Course. Designed to be administrated by scientists, engineers and technicians, Technocracy insisted that politicians were not capable of making good decisions about technology they knew nothing about.
When Technocracy called for Roosevelt to be dictatorFranklin Delano Roosevelt was elected in 1933 on his “New Deal” platform, the only other likely platform would have been Technocracy. It was lucky for us that FDR rejected the utopian goals of Technocracy for a greatly watered down version in his so-called New Deal.
Henry Porter, author of Roosevelt and Technocracy in 1932, declared “Just as the Reformation established Religious Freedom, just as the Declaration of Independence brought about our Political Freedom, Technocracy promises Economic Freedom.” [Foreward, iii]  Among other things, Porter proposed to abolish the gold standard, suspend the stock exchanges, and nationalize public utilities, after which he concluded,
“And then, a national awakening which, overnight, may well be expected to herald the news to every corner of the nation of the inauguration of the ‘new deal’ by FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT – DICTATOR. Drastic as these changes from the present order of things may be, they will serve their purpose if only to pave the way for the Economic Revolution – and TECHNOCRACY.” [caps in original]
In this writer’s considered opinion, Porter’s envisioned “Economic Revolution” foreshadowed the Trilateral Commission’s self-imposed mandate to create a “New International Economic Order” in 1973.  Trilateral co-founder Brzezinski’s seminal work, Between Two Ages: America’s Role in the Technetronic Era, was little more than a paraphrased version of 1930′s Technocracy.
If Technocracy is indeed asserting itself on today’s economic affairs, then it should become the hottest and most debated topic of the day – but it is not! That’s why this writer continues to present evidence that shows it is not only asserting itself, but it is rapidly coming to dominate the entire globalized economic system.

CISPA passed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 227 – 192 on April 17, and has now moved on to the Senate. The legislation was co-authored by Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) and “Dutch” Ruppersberger (D-MD), and ostensibly came from almost identical legislation that was rejected in April 2012. There were 37 co-sponsors.

AP: Obama has stuck with many Bush policies, from counterterrorism to immigration to Gitmo...

Matheny's Note: This article gives credibility to Professor Carroll Quigley's statement about the Two-Party system and the real function behind it:

The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can "throw the rascals out" at any election without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy.- Carrol Quigley, Tragedy and Hope

WASHINGTON (AP) — Despite vast differences with President George W. Bush on ideology, style and temperament, President Barack Obama has stuck with Bush policies or aspirations on a number of fronts, from counterterrorism to immigration, from war strategy to the global fight against AIDS.
Even on tax policy, where Bush advocated lower tax rates for all and Obama pushed for higher rates on the rich, Bush's tax cuts for the middle class not only have survived under Obama, they have become permanent.
Obama inherited from his predecessor two military conflicts, a war on terror and a financial crisis. He also inherited, and in time embraced, the means with which to confront them.
On Thursday, Obama will attend the dedication of Bush's presidential library in Texas, a tableau that will draw attention to two distinct men — a Republican and a Democrat from different ends of the political spectrum, political foils with polarized constituencies.
Indeed, Obama ran for president in 2008 as the anti-Bush, critical of the war against Iraq and of the economic policies of the preceding eight years.
But in his more than four years of governing, Obama has also adopted or let stand a series of Bush initiatives, illustrating how the policies of one administration can take hold and how the realities of governing often limit solutions.
Bush's signature education plan, No Child Left Behind, remains the law of the land, though the Obama administration has granted states waivers to give them flexibility in meeting performance targets. A Bush Medicare prescription drug plan, criticized for its cost, is now popular with beneficiaries, and Obama has sought to improve it by providing relief for seniors with high bills. Obama continued the unpopular bank bailouts and expanded the auto industry rescue that Bush initiated in 2008.
Bush authorized a military surge in Iraq in an effort to tame the conflict there. Obama completed the withdrawal of troops from Iraq but also authorized a military surge in Afghanistan before beginning a drawdown of troops that is expected to be completed at the end of 2014.
"The responsibilities of office drive presidents toward pragmatism," said Joshua Bolten, a former Bush chief of staff. Where those policies are effective, he added, "the successor has good reason to adopt them."
Obama, like Bush during his presidency, is seeking an overhaul of immigration laws that give 11 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally a chance to get on a path toward citizenship. Bush came up short in 2007, but Bolten believes that six years later the nation and its politicians are in a different place.
"President Bush was just ahead of his time and his party in recognizing both the importance of reaching some sort of bipartisan accommodation and on what the elements of that might reasonably be," he said.
Bruce Buchanan, a government professor at the University of Texas at Austin who specializes on the presidency, says it's not uncommon for presidents to hand off their agendas to another. Even measures or issues that were unpopular under one president can appear different with the passage of time and under the direction of a new occupant in the White House.
"While the names of the problems are the same, the stage of development is usually very different and the public stance of the president dealing with them is often very different," he said. "You have to be sensitive to those things lest you create the false impression that they are mirror images of one another, which I don't think would be accurate."
On no front are the similarities more striking than on counterterrorism. Obama did vow to end the harsh interrogation techniques such as waterboarding that had been employed during the Bush administration, and he issued an executive order upon becoming president declaring that the United States would not engage in torture.
But other practices continued and, in some case, expanded under Obama.
"The basic similarity is these are the only two presidents that have governed in a post-9/11 era, where the principal threat to the United States comes from terrorism," said Ben Rhodes, Obama's deputy national security adviser. "President Obama believes that we're at war with al-Qaida and its affiliated groups, has continued to take direct action against al-Qaida networks overseas and has continued to pursue very aggressive intelligence, law enforcement and homeland security measures that have been developed since 9/11."
Jack Goldsmith, who was an assistant attorney general in the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel during Bush's first term, says Obama's use of warrantless surveillance, military detentions without trial and increased drone strikes has received less pushback than it would under a Republican president.
Goldsmith, now a law professor at Harvard Law School, argued in a blog post after Obama's election that the public "generally trust the former constitutional law professor and civil liberties champion more than a Republican president to carry out these policies."
He added that "many on the left (in Congress and the NGO community, and perhaps the press) who might otherwise be uncomfortable with these policies will give President Obama a freer hand than they would a Republican president."
