How To Kill Obamacare, Turn The People Against Obama And Save The GOP

October 3, 2013

Hello, I’m Wayne Allyn Root for Personal Liberty. Ted Cruz, the Tea Party and the GOP fought hard and courageously; but it’s time to recognize that we aren’t going to win the current battle. Obama will negotiate with madmen in Iran over a nuclear bomb and with madmen in Syria over chemical weapons, but he won’t negotiate with Republicans in Congress over healthcare. So who’s the crazy one here?
No matter. Obama will not defund Obamacare. He will not even allow reasonable changes. It’s his law and he’s in charge. We are fighting a no-win battle over both Obamacare and the government shutdown — especially because the media protects him at all costs. The message the media puts out is that: “Obama is for the little guy. The GOP is evil and greedy.” Unfortunately, we are playing right into Obama’s hands with both a defunding of Obamacare and a Federal government shutdown.
Great generals change tactics constantly to win battles and wars. They recognize it is all a chess game and that as circumstances change and evolve, tactics must change and evolve. Now, it’s time for the Republican Congress to change tactics.
How can the GOP message be changed to win the battle instantly? By changing our demand. Here’s a way to turn this into a win-win for the GOP. Republicans will, in fact, end the government shutdown, pass the budget and fund Obamacare if this one single simple demand is met: Remove all exemptions, exceptions and waivers to Obamacare.
It’s that simple. The message is: If Obamacare is so good for the people, then let everyone have it right now, this instant — the poor, the rich, the big unions, the big corporations, the politically connected, the lawyers, the lobbyists and, of course, Congress, too. Everyone means everyone.
“Everyone” must specifically include Senators, Congressmen, their staffs, Obama himself, Michelle, Sasha and Malia. It’s everyone in the rowboat, or no one. That’s the only GOP demand. Forget defunding; it’s not going to happen. Fund it, but only if Obama agrees to end all exemptions, exceptions, and waivers today.
How’s that for a simple, clear and concise, easy-to-understand message, a message that puts the GOP clearly on the side of equality and fairness for all? This is a message a majority of Americans will support. This is a message that puts Obama on the defensive and paints him into a dangerous no-win corner.
That’s how you win the war with Obama and kill Obamacare. That’s how you win the public relations battle. That’s how you leave the media speechless. That’s how you outmaneuver Obama.
Think of Obama’s only two options at that point. He can either tell the American people that government will stay shut “because I refuse to force corporations, unions and Congress to live by the same rules as the rest of you,” or he can immediately reopen the government and fund Obamacare but cause a war inside the Democratic Party by abandoning his big corporate donors and unions. He loses big either way.
If this were wrestling or MMA fighting, the GOP just flipped Obama on his back. How can he say “no” to the GOP demand? Is Obama only for the rich, big corporations and politically connected? What is he protecting the rich and privileged from? If Obamacare is so great, why did he delay it for big corporations? What about the rest of us? Are we human guinea pigs?
More importantly, how can Obama look into the camera and say that Congress and the President should have the right to different healthcare than the citizens? Talk about an unwinnable position. Make him explain why he will keep the government closed so that Congress can have a different healthcare plan than the rest of us peasants.
Obama has broken the law and violated the Constitution with these special exemptions and waivers. Hold his feet to the fire. The GOP isn’t against poor people getting healthcare. We certainly hate Obamacare. We know it’s a disaster for healthcare, jobs and the economy. But if it’s the law of the land (for now), then we demand equality for everyone.
If Obama wants the law, let’s all have the law: everyone. Michelle, Sasha and Malia can wait in the same long lines as the rest of us. So can Congress and their staffs. So can big corporations like GE, Wal-Mart and Exxon. So can every union member. So can every government employee. If the rest of us can’t have “Cadillac health insurance plans” without paying big fines or taxes, then unions and government employees can’t either.
It’s one for all and all for one. Let’s see Obama oppose that argument. Let’s see him defend waivers and exemptions for some, while the rest of us get screwed. Let’s see Obama defend keeping the government closed in order to retain the one-year waiver for big business, while forcing small business and the middle class to suffer immediately.
Obama is between a rock and a hard place. He must agree that everyone gets it today, ready or not, with no exceptions. Or no one gets it.
Suddenly, the GOP has turned the tables. We have exposed Obama as the fraud he is. With this one change in tactics, the GOP represents “equality and fairness for all.” Let Obama defend inequality, unfairness and special favors for the rich and connected. Checkmate.
Obamacare is a disaster. The exchanges aren’t ready. Mass confusion reigns. The people have no idea how bad this is going to get. But it’s clear the unions, big corporations and Congress understand. That’s why they desperately want out. From this day forward, we let no one out. We are all in this together.
Make Obama own it. Make him tie his friends and donors into it right now — with no wiggle room. Then, watch the fun begin. Watch the unions and big corporations demand the repeal of Obamacare. Watch mass protests in the streets by union members. Watch the Democratic Party devolve into screaming and fighting matches among themselves. Watch D.C. implode as Congress, Congressional staffers and lobbyists refuse to accept Obamacare. Watch the rats desert the sinking ship.
But if Obama keeps the government closed to protect his biggest donors, the public will turn on him with a vengeance. By November of 2014, every single Democrat who ever voted for this disaster will be thrown out on his or her ass.
Oh, and one big bonus. I can’t wait to see Michelle Obama’s face when she hears she must live under the same law as the rest of us. I’d pay for tickets to watch that one.
I’m Wayne Allyn Root for Personal Liberty. See you next week. Same time, same place. God bless America.

The Rise of a Semi-employed America: Amazon to hire 70,000 part-time workers while Merck will fire 8,500 full-time employees. Before recession 4 million part-time workers today over 8 million.

October 3, 2013

The US is seeing a dramatic rise in the number of part-time workers.  The reason many employers are going with part-time hiring is that they usually forgo any benefit payments but also have more flexibility in firing these workers when they no longer need them.  This may also explain the rise in renting households as more Americans are unwilling to buy a long-term asset when their own future is tenuous.  This trend is hitting young Americans particularly hard.  We can see this shift by analyzing those working part-time for economic reasons.  Prior to the recession, roughly 4 million Americans fit this category.  Today the figure is above 8 million although at the height of the recession it was at 9 million.  This trend demonstrates a shift to less secure employment for many American families.  It also highlights a deeper trend of just-in-time (JIT) hiring for US companies.  For example, at the same time that Amazon announces seasonal hiring of 70,000 part-time workers Merck announces it will be letting go of 8,500 employees.  This trend is only going to accelerate as the government battles mountains of debt and companies look for ways to cut costs.
The rise of the part-time worker
The below chart highlights the massive rise of part-time employment since the financial crisis hit:
part-time economic reasons
Recessions will cause a spike in this dataset as you can see from the various spikes in previous recessions.  What is different this time is that the recession officially ended in the summer of 2009, over four years ago.  Yet part-time employment is up over 100 percent before the recession hit.  Many young Americans are getting hit with a double whammy.  First, they are the most indebted generation in history thanks to the unrelenting rise in the cost of college education. A disappearing of blue collar work makes it nearly a prerequisite for many to go to college if they have any hopes of entering the middle class.  Many are funding their education with mountains of student debt.  Of course this is another bubble that is inching closer to imploding as student debt reaches $1.1 trillion.  Once they graduate, many are entering a workforce that is paying less and providing very little in the way of benefits.
The implications are vast here since we have a less affluent young generation needing to support a growing and older population in the US.  We can see this through the actual percent of our population that is employed:
Civilian employment
The employment-population ratio is back to where it was in the 1980s.  This is problematic since older Americans will be drawing on the system in the form of Social Security and Medicare while younger Americans have very little access to affordable benefits.  Combine that with the rise of part-time employment and it is understandable that those 25 to 34 have a median net worth of zero.  In all likelihood it is much worse given that this age group is in debt so the net worth figure for many is actually in the negative column.
The announcements of Amazon and Merck are merely a reflection of these bigger changes:
Amazon to Hire 70,000 Workers for the Holidays (WSJ)
Merck to fire 8,500 workers  (BBG)
This is not uncommon.  We have seen these shifts happening for many years now.  The rise of part-time work in the US is also a deeper reflection of financial policies driven by theFederal Reserve protecting member banks.  It is interesting to note that Japan with their decades of Quantitative Easing have a part-time workforce that amounts to nearly one out of every three workers.  While we are not close to that, the trend is unmistakable.  The system has been fragile for many years and we are seeing a continuation of trends that take away workers protections and the middle class continues to shrink.
The government may have shut down this week but the true financial pain is being felt by working and middle class Americans.

Obama deliberately blocked access to veterans’ memorials to make shutdown appear worse

J. D. Heyes
Natural News
October 3, 2013
It is a tactic that President Obama has used before, in collusion with Democratic leaders in the House and Senate, during the sequester: Make the cuts as painful as possible on the American people and blame nonexistent Republican obstinacy, which is then dutifully reported as truth by the mainstream media.
Image: WW2 Memorial.
And now he’s doing it again during the current partial government shutdown. Only, some of the people he is trying to hurt the most are the very Americans who guaranteed, with their lives, the safety and survival of this great nation: World War II veterans.
That’s right. Thanks to Obama’s promise to veto House-passed legislation that would provide funds to keep the nation’s World War II Memorial open during the current partial shutdown, vets are being turned away from the very memorial built in their honor.
‘Gratuitous and petulant’
Per Breitbart News:
The Obama Administration has decided to block access to public memorials on the National Mall as a result of the government shutdown. Like its decision to end White House tours when the sequester cuts took effect, there is no rational reason for this. The Park Police, nominally in charge of monitoring these spaces, isn’t even effected by the shutdown. Shutting off access to these sites is gratuitous and petulant.
Without a doubt. But it’s not like this decision was merely an oversight. It was as calculated as it was heartless.
The Daily Caller reported that the decision by Obama’s White House was premeditated:
The White House and the Department of the Interior rejected a request from Rep. Steven Palazzo’s office to have World War II veterans visit the World War II memorial in Washington, the Mississippi Republican [said]
“We got the heads up that they will be barricaded and specifically asked for an exception for these heroes,” Palazzo told TheDC. “We were denied and told, ‘It’s a government shutdown, what do you expect?’ when we contacted the liaison for the White House.”
The group of vets, many of them octogenarians and in declining health, were part of an Honor Flight, a group that sponsors visits to the WWII Memorial for veterans of that conflict. Palazzo, himself a Marine Corps vet of the first Gulf War, has participated on all five flights. Initially, he says he thought the White House’s refusal was merely bureaucratic oversight.
“[B]ut having talked with the officials I can’t help but think this was politically motivated. Honor Flights, which bring WWII veterans to the nation’s memorials, are planned a year in advance and cost anywhere between $80,000 to $100,000. How low can you get with playing politics over our nation’s veterans?” he said.
‘Mr. President, tear down this wall’
Both Palazzo and Mike Flynn at Breitbart went on to point out that, under normal circumstances, the World War II Monument, as well as the Lincoln Memorial and many of Washington’s other memorials and sites, are never guarded by Park Police. They are open-air venues located close to the National Mall and there are no designated entrances and exits. I’ve seen for myself during visits to DC that this is the case.
Per Flynn:
Having lived in DC for 18 years, I can tell you, the WWII Memorial is simply an architectural structure in an open public space. There is no official “access” to it. There are no guards. It’s a building in a park. Yet, the Obama Administration tried to block veterans from viewing the public memorial, even after hearing about the planned visit.
As it turned out, Palazzo led the vets past the government barricades and visited their memorial, but they faced similar barricades when they attempted to visit the Lincoln Memorial on Oct. 2.
“I have regularly visited this memorial at one or two in the morning. At those hours, it is a peaceful and reflective place. It is an open space. There is no access that needs to be blocked. It is only by a conscious decision, and a great deal of work, that access would be blocked,” writes Flynn.
This cowardly, ghastly act is the last gasp of a desperate, peevish ideologue who, because he’s not getting his way in Congress, has decided to act out against the very men who guaranteed his place in American history.

Stay classy, Mr. President.

Obamacare Fines to be Seized From Bank Accounts?

Man who attempted to sign up claims he was threatened with drivers license being revoked, federal tax lien on home

A man who attempted to sign up for Obamacare online was told that a fine of over $4,000 dollars a year for refusing to take out mandatory health insurance could be taken directly from his bank account, and that his drivers license would be suspended and a federal tax lien placed against his home, according to an entry on the HealthCare.gov Facebook page.
Image: Obama signs the Affordable Care Act.
If true, the implementation of Obamacare is going to be a whole lot more draconian than Americans have been led to believe.
Will Sheehan claims that when he tried to sign up for Obamacare and then register to opt out, he received an ominous warning. Sheehan’s full Facebook post reads;
“I actually made it through this morning at 8:00 A.M. I have a preexisting condition (Type 1 Diabetes) and my income base was 45K-55K annually I chose tier 2 “Silver Plan” and my monthly premiums came out to $597.00 with $13,988 yearly deductible!!! There is NO POSSIBLE way that I can afford this so I “opt-out” and chose to continue along with no insurance.
I received an email tonight at 5:00 P.M. informing me that my fine would be $4,037 and could be attached to my yearly income tax return. Then you make it to the “REPERCUSSIONS PORTION” for “non-payment” of yearly fine. First, your drivers license will be suspended until paid, and if you go 24 consecutive months with “Non-Payment” and you happen to be a home owner, you will have a federal tax lien placed on your home. You can agree to give your bank information so that they can easy “Automatically withdraw” your “penalties” weekly, bi-weekly or monthly! This by no means is “Free” or even “Affordable.”
Sheehan went on to point out that the site makes you input all your personal information before giving you an indication of the costs, meaning a database of the “uninsured” is being built. He added that he could not afford to pay the premium so would have to break the law and pay the fine, leaving him with no health care coverage.
The federal government has consistently denied that any fines pertaining to Obamacare non-compliance could be seized from bank accounts, despite reports last year that the IRS had hired 16,500 new agents to harass citizens who attempt to evade the new law.
“There’s no criminal sanctions for not paying this, and there’s no ability to levy a bank account or do seizures,” then-IRS commissioner Douglas Shulman said in April 2010.
In addition, Americans who refuse to pay for mandatory health insurance “shall not be subject to any criminal prosecution,” according to the law itself.
Section 1501(g)(2) of the Affordable Care Act also states that the IRS cannot “file notice of lien with respect to any property of a taxpayer by reason of any failure to pay the penalty imposed by this section.”
Either Sheehan’s claim that he received this notice is a lie, or the feds have been dishonest with the American people all along, and the revolt against Obamacare is about to take “don’t tread on me” to a whole new level.

New wave of WWII veterans move barricades to access DC memorial

Fox News
October 2, 2013
Some protesters were on hand Wednesday morning at the World War II Memorial in Washington. (FOX NEWS)

A new wave of veterans were forced to move barricades at the WWII Memorial in Washington Wednesday morning to gain access during the government slimdown, a spokeswoman from Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., told FoxNews.com.
The WWII veterans, from Ohio, Kansas and Missouri, arrived at the memorial one day after another group relied on the assistance from elected officials to move the barricades to allow access. Parks police did not prevent the first group from entering, nor did they interfere with Wednesday's group.
The veterans vowed to make the trek to D.C. regardless of the situation in Washington. When asked how they were going to visit the World War II Memorial when it’s closed, Ian Drake, a WWII veteran, told Fox4KC.com the group will "find a way in, one way or another. We might have to climb or something. It's no problem. Well work it out when we get there."
The veterans are traveling as part of Honor Flight , a program that enables World War II veterans to partake in an expense-paid trip to view the memorial.

Va. starting to develop a master identity database

Times Dispatch
October 1, 2013

Using Department of Motor Vehicles records as its core, the state government is quietly developing a master identity database of Virginia residents for use by state agencies.
The state enterprise record - the master electronic ID database - would help agencies ferret out fraud and help residents do business electronically with the state more easily, officials said.
While officials say the e-ID initiative will be limited in scope and access, it comes at a time of growing public concern about electronic privacy, identity theft and government intrusion.
"It makes it easier to compromise your privacy," said Claire Guthrie Gastañaga, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia. "They're using DMV for some other purpose than driving."
DMV points out that, in today's world, state driver's licenses are the fundamental identification documents used by most Americans.
State officials say participation in the e-ID system will be voluntary, but the reason that the state has been moving to offer "privacy-enhancing credentials" to Virginia residents is the increasing number of government services offered online.

However, "anything you make more accessible and efficient for the user, you potentially open up for opportunities for risk, for attack," said Robby Demeria, executive director of RichTech, Richmond's technology council.

Another disgusting show of police abuse was caught on surveillance camera, showing five Atlantic City police officers beating, punching and kneeing a man repeatedly before a sixth officer drives up and sics a dog on the man.
The 20-year-old man, David Connor Castellani, was charged with aggravated assault. The video shows he did no such thing. The altercation begins just after the 3:00 mark.
Atlantic Police Chief Ernest Jubiliee told NBC10 that he viewed the tape of the incident that took place and “saw no reason to suspend or remove officers from their regular duties.”

They’re Lying to You: Appropriations and “Shutdown” Lies

New American
September 30, 2013
As Democrats and Republicans squabble over federal funding and a partial shutdown of the federal government looms, many in the press are mindlessly parroting Democratic Party’s talking points about the shutdown. But what’s the reality? Following are three false claims regarding the looming shutdown, and why they are lies.
Image: Government shut down.
False claim #1: Republicans are shutting down the government.
“So far, the Republicans in the House of Representatives have refused to move forward…. The House Republicans are so concerned with appeasing the tea party that they’ve threatened a government shutdown or worse unless I gut or repeal the Affordable Care Act.”
— President Barack Obama, press conference, September 27
Why it’s a lie: The House Republicans have twice passed bills to fund nearly all the functions of the federal government through December 15. Congress must fund appropriations for nearly all federal programs each year by the time the fiscal year begins on October 1, or the programs will face shutdown. But the President and Democratic Senate have threatened to veto the House-approved spending unless the House passes a bill that also includes funding for ObamaCare. The White House and Senate Democrats do not object to any spending that is in the House bill, they are only objecting to funding that’s not in the bill. The reality is that President Obama is holding the federal government — and federal employees’ paychecks — hostage in order to extort more funding from the House.
False claim #2: Republicans must fund ObamaCare because it’s the law.
“That’s not really the American form of government. You [Host David Gregory] outlined the American form of government. The test by which we submit any new legislation and it’s submitted, the President signs it, and it’s reviewed by the courts. It’s the law.”
— Chris Matthews, on Republican strategy to defund ObamaCare, on Meet the Press, September 29
Why it’s a lie: While it is true that Congress enacted ObamaCare in 2010, the original bill contained zero funding. The original ObamaCare law was not self-funded, and funding of ObamaCare is what’s at issue in Washington today. ObamaCare requires new appropriations spending each year, as Article I, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution requires that “No money shall be drawn from the treasury, but in consequence of appropriations made by law.” Generally, this means annual spending bills passed by Congress, though in some rare instances Congress passes spending for more than a year.
The Congress has complete discretion about whether to fund — or not fund — the programs it sets up under law, and Congress defunds laws all the time — such as pork barrel purchases for the military weapons systems that are never funded. In fact, Congress is doing precisely the same thing right now under the sequester law, to the utter silence of Democratic Party mouthpieces like Chris Matthews. And no one argues that these are inappropriate uses of Congress’ discretion of what to fund.
Regarding ObamaCare, there’s a stronger case to deny funding than most pork barrel military weapons projects. President Obama proposed the law with a price tag of $900 billion over 10 years, but the Congressional Budget Office recently projected that costs would be roughly double the price estimated by Congress at the time it was passed into law.
False claim #3: House Republicans are bluffing, and President Obama holds all the aces in the budget debate.
“They said, “Yeah, we negotiate with everybody and we don’t like where it came out.  We want our way.  It’s our way or the highway.  And if you don’t do it, we’ll shut the government down.”  I think there are times when you have to call people’s bluff.”
— Former President Bill Clinton, on Republican claims, to George Stephanopoulos in This Week, September 29
Why it’s a lie: Republicans hold a constitutional royal-straight-flush on funding, as they control a majority of the House of Representatives. Under the constitutional appropriations process, funding for just about all programs ends automatically every year. Thus, funding for all programs must pass the House of Representatives every year or the programs will die. Therefore, House Republicans an absolute, veto-proof constitutional stop on spending.
Democratic Party talking points for the past year are that the GOP House has voted 30- or 40-odd times to defund Obamacare, to no effect. The reality is that House Republicans don’t need to vote at all to defund Obamacare; they simply need to avoid passing a bill to fund the program and it will die.
When Bill Clinton told George Stephanopoulos that Obama should “call people’s bluff,” Clinton was projecting from experience. Clinton bluffed against Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s royal-straight-flush back in 1996 with the same pair of deuces which today Obama holds, and the GOP folded its winning hand. Look for the same likely outcome this time. The real bluff may be that the GOP is pretending to have a spine, and it’s not there.
The reality is that the GOP-controlled House of Representatives has been the lifeblood of ObamaCare thus far, always granting it full funding up until this point. If the GOP finds its spine, Republicans will have to convince the American people that true compromise must not be based upon what is absent from a bill, but instead on what is in a bill. In short, Republicans need to embrace constitutional “reductive compromise” and reject the White House extortion strategy, initiating a compromise strategy that involves only spending money that is agreed upon by both parties.

Obamacare Website Quietly Deletes Reference to 'Free Health Care'

The Weekly Standard
September 30, 2013

Even as President Obama and his administration are making a last minute push to encourage enrollment in Obamacare, a quiet change was made on the Healthcare.gov website regarding those who will still not be able to afford coverage after the program kicks in. From at least June 26, 2013 to as recently as September 15, under the topic, "Where can I get free or low-cost care in my community?" the following statement appeared: "If you can't afford any health plan, you can get free or low-cost health and dental care at a nearby community health center." Here is how the page in question appeared:
However, sometime between September 16 and September 23, the reference to "free" care was dropped. The title of the topic was changed as well, and now reads: "Where can I get low-cost care in my community?" Here is how the page currently appears:
The page in question is not a new one, as the webpage's Internet address remains the same, still containing the word "free": www.healthcare.gov/where-can-i-get-free-or-low-cost-care/.  However, there is no notation anywhere on the page that it was revised; the change just appeared unannounced.
Other changes include dropping references to "dental" care and the availability of "prescription drugs," as well as exchanging the phrase "specialized care for more serious conditions" for the milder "referrals to specialized care."
