In an appearance on Book TV (C-SPAN2), Newt Gingrich responded to a question of why the U.S. has not been hit with a Terrorist attack, by saying that the U.S. Government should let a terrorist attack be successful every once in a while so it will remind us that we are in a war against terror!

He also stated in the answer that the government has been successful in stopping attacks due to wire tapping.

He  then went on to say that he would divide the FBI into two groups: An Anti-Domestic Crime FBI, that would be very cautious and respectful of American Civil Liberties, where a citizen is innocent until proven guilty. The 2nd group of the Anti-Domestic Crime FBI, Newt stated,  would be small and very aggressive saying "I would have a small but very aggressive anti-terrorism agency, and I would frankly give them extraordinary ability to eavesdrop, and my first advice to civil libertarians is simple - don't plot with terrorists."

If Newt Gingrich were to become President in 2012, I'm sure he will choose to remind us of the war on terror in this way...
